Always loved this branch and always came there. I called in on the morning of my daughters 10th birthday who happens to have Autism. She loves seafood. As per specialists, they recommended I order in advance as it is not always easy for her to understand the waiting time.
I called to order only her meal in advance and would be happy to pay in advance if need be to make her day special. I was happy to order ours when we got there. The lady said I can call when I am 5min away. I pulled over when we were almost there and called only to be told the manager said I cannot order sit down meals in advance. Fair enough. But what is very confusing is she said I can order take away in advance? And when I asked if we can order the meal and go for a walk and come back, she said yes?
Both those options come at the same risk? None of them would be paid for in advance?
We went and the waiter was so great, we immediately asked him to prepare her dish before we were seated. It was tough to wait but I believe he did his best. However I will never return to your branch. I feel your policy does not make sense, and it was unnecessary to refuse the request if what you allow is the exact same. Read moreThe place has quite a very chilled vibe, so I would definitely recommend it for friends and just having a chilled lunch or something like that. When we first arrived we placed our order ,but we did not receive the bread that normally comes with a couple of sides, that you get at every Ocean Basket franchise. Which was a little bit annoying cause I love nibbling on those while I wait for my order. I had to ask the waitress to get this for me which is quite strange cause she should have known this.
Our food came so fast I think we barely waited even 15 minutes before it arrived so the speed was absolutely amazing the fastest I've ever received at any restaurant so high five to them for that. I even jokingly questioned the waitress to find out it somebody had canceled their order lolz.
I did however receive it with no source as well which got me even more annoyed because the meal that I ordered always came with source at any Ocean Basket franchise and I had to ask for the sauce again like I asked for the bread with the sides.
So either than that I had a great time and was surrounded by great company so everything went down well would I come again maybe, a different Ocean...
Read moreWe recently visited the Ocean Basket restaurant in Cape Town and were extremely disappointed. We ordered seafood such as mussels, prawns, calamari, along with fries and wine. After dinner we took some food home, but the next morning we both went through real suffering: severe headache, vomiting, and diarrhea. The symptoms were so bad that we had to spend money on medicine.
When I returned to the restaurant to discuss what had happened, the manager behaved extremely rudely. He showed no sympathy, suggested that the food poisoning might have happened elsewhere, and even smirked, implying that since I was able to walk into the restaurant on my own, I must be fine. This was deeply offensive and disrespectful.
It is important to note that we have visited another Ocean Basket restaurant before and were very satisfied with both the service and the quality of the food. So the issue is not with the chain in general, but specifically with this branch at this address. Here we lost not only money but also our health — and we did not even receive a simple apology.
