La Parada Suncoast — Restaurant in Stamford Hill

Been on two occasions so far. First time, mid March 2025 on a Sunday for dinner, we had an amazing waiter, Trevlen, super attentive and knew his stuff as well as understanding the level of service demand required by his customers, and just really made the night great, music, atmosphere and just the overall vibe was spot on, live DJ's doing their thing, 90's RnB, hip-hop, it certainly felt like the place to be. The food was amazing, was very partial to the pasta, the amazeballs were not really amazing but it had flavour, overall food was great too.

Second occasion was also in late March, also a Sunday, this experience was not so nice, waitress was not attentive, made mistakes and tried to cover up by saying she either didn't hear exactly what we said or "the kitchen doesn't do that"... However our prior engagement with the restaurant led us to know that since we had the food prepared a certain way before, the excuses were just that, excuses. The food went back and forth about four times which inevitably there was intervention with the manager in charge and eventually a waitress change made due to "shift change"... the new waitress was amazing and that helped to ease the frustration we experienced. I find that in this rating I am basing it on the first experience, and that of the second waitress. I believe it only fair that since the management of the establishment had intervened and everything was resolved it is definitely worth the stars earned.

It was my second time eating at your restaurant last night. I first came through not long after you first opened last year.

I did notice a change in standard. The menus were very dirty. They were oily and wet when given to us which is quite unpleasant and unhygienic.

Secondly, there is no consistency with the drinks. I ordered a coconut margarita and it was served to me in a whiskey glass. I requested my second margarita to be given to me in a margarita glass as it should be.

My husband ordered the pork belly which was burnt and the cabbage was plain shredded cabbage with no dressing on it. Not sure who eats plain raw cabbage like that.

I also do not think the compulsory service charge is appropriate. If we are paying for our meal we should decide on the tip based on our waiters service. Which if i may add, was not great last night. She was serving too many tables at once and was very distracted.

I'm overall very disappointed in such a huge drop in standard in merely 2 months. It was definitely not worth the R 1200...
