We decided to go to Ocean basket on the 29thDec2024 for my Daughter's Birthday as she had requested it ( for the calamari). After ordering food and drinks we waited more that the usual time for drinks to arrive. In this time the small Rolls were delivered with a stack of side plates, when we separated the plates they were still wet and most of them were still dirty with old food. We requested new ones. We then had to ask for the garlic and chillies which come with the rolls to be brought to us. Garlic was brought but we were told they have run out of chillies. On to the mains we asked for all the food to be brought together. When the Calamari heads were brought they were cold the pan was cold and the food was cold, I called the waiter and advised it was cold I was told " just the pan is cold the food is hot" I then picked up the cold food and showed him to which it was taken away. No butter sauce was brought either. The rest of the food was brought out after this and the Calamari mains came with out the butter sauce, I had to request this to come and it took so long the food was cold by the time it arrived when it did arrive, it too was ice cold. We also had to request for Knives and forks to be brought and plates to be brought with took so long the rest of the food was getting cold. All this while there were multiple staff standing around and joking and laughing with each other. When my Calamari heads did eventually arrive hot they were over cooked and had a burnt tast to them. I requested the managed a Mr TJ to come and see me, no one came we the finished our meal and I went to pay I asked the waiter if there is a manager on duty he said yes TJ and called him and indicated I wanted to see him to which he never came and continued walking around. At this point we got up and left. We frequent Ocean basket Pavillion and Durban north regularly and I can highly recommend them, as for Suncoast don't waste your time, the staff are not trained properly and the...
Read moreIf i could put no stars for Ocean Basket Suncoast I would as it was the worst experience in a restaurant I ever had. Had the restaurant been busy I could understand the situation, but it was not very busy. The waitress was full of attitude as if she was doing us a favor by doing her work. Because of this, service was slow and the manager nowhere to be seen. We ordered a hake soup and got given a seafood soup. Upon alerting her of this, she grabbed it out of our hands and returned with the "fish" soup what felt like 15min later. Just to start eating it and find parts of the prawn still in it. Dont get me started on the red onions in the sushi. Since when does red onion feature in sushi, it completely overpowered everything but i ate it as it took so long to get to us in the first place. Upon his return, the manager avoided our table by any means necessary and couldn't even make eye contact with us, even when we brought it to the waitresses attention that we got charged for the incorrect soup. We eventually got told to deduct it off the final bill amount. I work in the food service industry and can wholeheartedly tell you that I'm not a complainer as I know everyone does their best to make the customer's experience a memorable one. We'll needless to say, I won't forget this experience in Ocean Basket Suncoast as it was the worst one yet. Generally I believe the waiter should be tipped no less than 10% of the total bill, but after the service we got I couldn't get myself to adhere to that rule. I will never go back there and will not recommend...
Read moreSo here's my two cents worth about Ocean Basket Sun Coast Casino. With the wide variety of Restaurants at Sun Coast Casino and Entertainment world one is really spoilt for choice. So last night I decided to give Ocean Basket a try. I must say I'm very two minded of ever going back again. 1stly the waiter was not hospitable at all. One once during my 2 hour stay did she come to find out if everything was okay nor did she acknowledge the tip afterwards. As for the food it was second rate at best. I ordered 2 new items on the menu being the Panko Prawn Cakes and the Panko Zucchini. Of which the Zucchini was amazing. However the Prawn cakes were a disaster. It was thoroughly burnt making the prawn inside very dry. For the second course we had salmon roses and lemon salmon California rolls. Again very disappointed with the quality and consistency of the sushi. Both the salmon roses and the California rolls were lacking the caviar which should have been used to garnish. The California rolls were missing the sesame seeds. The sushi was not wrapped tight at all, resulting in them falling apart when lifted with chopsticks. As a lover of sushi I was highly disappointed. For the main we went for the platter for two. The chips were good, the season veg was amazing. The squid heads were chewy and had a sandy texture. The fish was rubbery. The prawns had no flavour. The mussels had no sause in them, the sause which they were placed in was watery. So highly disappointed. After spend R 731 rounded to R 800 for a meal for 2. Was not...
