Nonna's Italian Kitchen Florida — Restaurant in Windermere

My wife and i decided to dine here tonight, what a poor choice it was. I ordered the surf and turf, my waitor Malusi gave me an option of having my sauce on the food or on the side. I opted to have it on the side to split it between my prawns and steak. My wifes food arrives, with no drink. My food is served to me maybe 15 minutes later by a chef whilst my waitor candidly leans against the wall tending to new guests, this is after 20 minutes or so of waiting. To my surprise the sauce is already on the prawns, chips were cold, salad warm and my wifes drink still hadn't arrived. When i flag down my waitor to ask him why my sauce is not on the side and where is my wifes mocktail he then goes to get it made and says he will bring me more sauce. After waiting watching him serve other guest at this point i was extremely fed up. I asked for my food to be taken away and to be given the bill. The waitor then proceeds on two occasions to try to persuade me to accept that my order be rewarmed despite my clear instruction that it can be taken back. The manager arrives to interview me regarding why i returned my food as if i have to justify why i wouldnt accept the food. He then says "Its no problem we can remove it." Im livid at this point, this establishment charges an arm and a leg for putrid service and the manager is acting as if im being done a favour by not being charged for something i didnt eat. My bill came, and my superstar waitor adds a R75 drink i didnt even order. Then i wait further for this mysterious drink to be removed. I will never return, the average spend per head is R400+-. I don't know who the chef is, I'm sure he works very hard but everytime I order from there there's always something missing. There's always a problem with my order. Their pasta never tastes the same as Gateways- which comes out perfectly. It's always either they didn't season well, or they undercook the pasta or put no herbs and they stingey with the sides. When I order from Gateway I don't have to put no instructions to the restaurant for how to prepare the order and they usually take almost an hour to prepare it-and it's worth it- Florida Road's Nonnas literally takes 15 minutes to prepare so no wonder there is always issues with the food here. Gateway's comes out perfectly and for the money I'm paying for 1 pasta I must say something because it's unacceptable that Florida Road can't hold the same standards when I'm still paying so much. And I would gladly just order from Gateway rather than bring this up on here but ever since this new one opened up here I am no longer allowed to order from Gateway on the app because it's further away. The meatball pasta I ordered did not meet my expectations. I love meatballs, and I know how beef meatballs taste like, and those meatballs tasted like Soya meatballs. In one of the reviews, someone said the tomato paste wasn't cooked properly, and I experienced the same issue with the tomato paste in my pasta. There was an unpleasant taste to the tomato paste, and I was unable to consume even half of the pasta. I did ask the Manager about the meatballs, and he said it was real beef, and they added carrots. I had to take his word for it, but I still had a lot of questions, which I decided not to ask. Sometimes, when I voice a complaint about food or food hygiene at a restaurant, which I don't often do, the managers make me feel like I'm doing something wrong and they will try to convince me so I just force myself to eat the food, refrain from writing a review and never go back to the restaurant. However , after the TikTok lady who called out a restaurant in Menlyn Mall was taken seriously, I am more confident now to write reviews and speak out when necessary. My review might help another person planning to go to the restaurant.
