It was a rainy, blustery day in Jeju, the kind that makes you crave something warm and comforting. We'd been exploring, getting a bit damp, and by the time we pulled up to Jeju Jangsu Noodles (노형본점), my stomach was rumbling with anticipation. The place itself was unassuming, a local spot, which always bodes well for an authentic experience.
Walking in, the smell of simmering broth immediately enveloped us – a rich, savory aroma that promised good things. We ordered the signature pork noodles, and when they arrived, they were exactly what I'd hoped for: a generous bowl of steaming broth, thin, tender noodles, and beautifully sliced pork.
The first spoonful of broth was pure bliss. It was incredibly deep and flavorful, with a slight richness from the pork that wasn't at all greasy. It tasted like hours of careful preparation had gone into it. The noodles were perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of chew, and the pork was incredibly tender, almost melting in my mouth. Each bite was a little warmth, a little comfort, chasing away the chill of the day.
What really stood out, though, was the feeling of it all. It wasn't just a meal; it was a moment of genuine comfort and satisfaction. I remember looking around, seeing other diners quietly enjoying their bowls, and feeling a real sense of connection to the local culture. It felt honest, authentic, and utterly delicious.
While it wasn't a Michelin-star dining experience, it was exactly what we needed that day. It was a hearty, soulful meal that left me feeling full, warm, and genuinely happy. For a simple, incredibly satisfying bowl of pork noodles that truly hits the spot, Jeju Jangsu Noodles gets a solid 4 out of 5 from me. It's the kind of place I'd happily return to on my next...
Read moreThis food was so good that it makes me a little angry lol. We were in the neighborhood to spend a rainy day at the Jeju Dream Tower Korean Jjimjil Spa (also recommended) and just so happen to get hungry and wander into a nearby noodle restaurant. While the noodles are very good (light clear broth with a strong black pepper flavor), the standout by far was the Skewered Pork. The flavor is out of this world, it's made hot and fresh to order. It was so good that we eventually ordered a second serving (thank goodness we hadn't eaten much lol) and from the time the food was set in front of us, we literally couldn't talk about anything other than how good it was. Even the kimchi was especially good. Would 500% recommend if you are ever in Jeju City. I would make a trip back just to eat it again lol. BE SURE TO...
Read moreBe careful not to get SCAMMED!! We ordered two sets of noodles which included dumplings for 15.000 won plus one extra portion of dumplings for 6.000 won. But we didn’t get the extra portion of dumplings because the woman working there told us there were none of them left, we only got the ones from the set. When we payed she wouldn’t remove the dumplings from the bill we didn’t get! We even translated our situation and discussed with her for a few minutes but she was either too stubborn to understand or just scammed us. So be careful if you go there as a tourist to not get scammed. At the end we just payed the amount because we were already discussing for minutes. Wouldn’t recommend this place because of the service there, especially from the older woman...
