Saw many on XHS and youtube recommend about Myth Jokbal Restaurant to feast on their soy sauce-braised pork trotters, also known as jokbal. And it is the one of the best meal I have for this trip!! You can choose from a variety of flavours, including the original, garlic, or spicy with perilla leaves. I was in Hongdae, but the queue was crazy and luckily, they also had a branch in Myeongdong. I arrived at 1pm and didn't need to queue. Lucky!
We order Original Jokbal Set (Medium) for 2-3 Persons The jokbal arrived on a plate piled high with meat and also came with a large almond lettuce salad, a soup, and noodle on the side. To my surprise, the noodle soup was actually quite tasty. The medium portion of jokbal look intimating on first look. I was thinking, how are we going to finish, but something is kind of addictive and we cleared the plate clean😂 The glistening fat just literally melts in mouth and surprisingly not as oily as I expected while the meat part was tender soft.
You really need to try this jokbal when you're...
Read moreNot as good as the Hongdae location. The Tteok-bokki was my fave in the city at the Hongdae location but it was soupy & watery here in Myeongdong, plus there were no quail eggs in the dish which they had at Hongdae. We ordered the Bossam which is the same dish we ordered in Hongdae but in Hongdae they gave us a side of lettuce and raw garlic with a dried shrimp condiment which were all again missing at Myeongdong. The meat itself was still tasty but a lot drier and just wasn’t the same without the other side parts. A bit disappointing as both restaurants are of the same franchise. The owners are not even Korean as most of the servers and cooks were speaking Mandarin to each other (which I’m not saying chinese people can’t cook Korean food but I appreciate the authenticity of Korean shifts cooking Korean food in Korea).I recommend going to the Hongdae location instead if you want to try this...

Our first meal in Seoul was a memorable one at Myth Jokbal Myeongdong. The friendly staff welcomed us warmly, and we were pleasantly surprised when one of them spoke to us in Chinese.
As a pork specialty restaurant, we were excited to try their signature dishes. We ordered the Braised Pork Knuckle Platter and an Octopus dish. The food presentation was impressive, and the quality of the ingredients was equally impressive.
The portion sizes were generous, to say the least. We were amazed by the massive serving sizes, and unfortunately, we couldn't finish our meal. Thankfully, the staff helped us pack the leftovers to take away.
Overall, Myth Jokbal Myeongdong offers excellent value for money. The combination of delicious food, generous portions, and friendly service makes it a must-visit for pork...
