‼️⚠️Cleanliness of this hotel is HORRID. stayed here for 10 nights.

  1. Toilets not cleaned properly on first day upon checking in, I saw a ball of thread on the floor that didn’t belong to us (we literally just stepped into the room). It was later “swept” away by our movement to the corner of the toilet. 3 days on and the ball of thread IS STILL THERE. shower drain had hair worth 2-3 days collected there, not cleaned off. Am I staying in a hotel or airbnb???? face towels were not changed either. How do I know? I accidentally rubbed my face against one of the towels and left a grey mark on it from my eyeliner. The exact same mark was still there the next day after the apparent housekeeping. So that just goes to show that the towels were not even changed?????? vanity kit was not replenished… when I say “vanity kit” it’s literally just 2 pieces of cotton wool and cotton buds and 1 hair tie”. Even this the hotel would love to stinge on? I ran out of cotton wool so I really needed it but by the time I came back it was pretty late and didn’t want to call for just that.

  2. bedsheets were not changed even though I did put the “green card” to instruct for the bedsheets to be changed. And once again, how did I know it wasn’t changed? The bedsheets had a stain (which was not left by me, it was the day aft the housekeeping) and that stain was on the exact same spot for 3 full days. We slept on the same bedsheets for 3 full days even though we instructed to change it. Why am I paying for hotel price if I’m gonna be living in a way of an Airbnb????

  3. layout of the rooms are insanely silly. The bed is sooooo close to the table (which is built in so can’t move), that we had to literally carry our luggage over the bed. I don’t get it? What kind of design is this.

Would I recommend to stay here? Absolutely not. 👎🏻 Tons of other hotels that are in the same area for the same price with better cleanliness. Oh not to forget, the walls are SO THIN that I could hear a bunch of girls giggling and their full conversation from the room next door. They weren’t even talking that...

Location is great, no doubt. But here’s the experience.

Checked in - unpacked things, but didn’t necessarily turn on the TV immediately upon entering room. As soon as we did, we discovered the tv was broken. Big long crack across and showed a black screen. Called reception right away to report - was advised they were gonna send a maintenance guy. Guy came, and he didn’t speak English. It was so clear that someone or something broke the TV, but it took him forever to decide on that. He then sort of actioned “X” with his arms saying tv is broken, and left. Left hanging, I called reception. They said they were gonna check with housekeeping first what happened. As a guest, you would normally and fairly expect they would offer a room change, but no, gotta wait to see what housekeeping says.

Someone then comes at our door after 10-15mins with a new set of keys, and said we will receive a call when the new room is ready. 30mins pass, no call. Followed up with reception and was interrogated yet again about the cracked tv, indirectly implying or accusing that we broke it. Of course I explained. Then upon asking about the other room, the agent didn’t know what I was talking about. I was told they’d call me back. Finally, got a call and was informed room was ready. This was at least an hour after. An hour wasted just waiting for them to fix this simple problem. It just gets worse… you would expect a little better room with the inconvenience right? But NO. They gave us a smaller room facing a building being constructed full of workers throughout the day. Privacy and nice view are out the window.

Upon check out, the receptionist asks how my stay was. I said it was okay, it could be better. She smiles and says awwww thank you very much!!

I understand English isn’t your first language - but you’re in Myeongdong, and you’re a “three...

The Standard Hotel Myeongdong is an excellent choice for travelers seeking convenience and comfort in the heart of Seoul. Situated in the center of the bustling Myeongdong district, the hotel boasts an unbeatable location. It is right across from the iconic Lotte Department Store and just steps away from Myeongdong Shopping Street, making it perfect for shopping enthusiasts. Additionally, the Euljiro 1 -ga subway station and the airport shuttle stop for bus 6015 are just a block away, ensuring seamless transportation options for guests.

A unique feature of this hotel is that it is located above the Apple Store, with the lobby situated on the 9th floor. This layout adds a modern, urban vibe to the hotel. The rooms themselves are new, clean, and thoughtfully designed to provide a comfortable stay. A standout amenity is the drinking water machine located in the lift lobby, offering both hot and cold water. This eliminates the need for boiling water in the room, adding an extra layer of convenience for guests.

The hotel also offers practical facilities like a coin laundry, which is a great option for longer stays. However, it’s worth noting that the laundry area tends to be busy at night, so planning ahead is recommended. Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the small but well-equipped gym, which includes essential weights and machines for a quick workout.

Overall, The Standard Hotel Myeongdong delivers on both location and amenities, making it a fantastic base for exploring Seoul. Whether you’re visiting for shopping, sightseeing, or business, this hotel offers a combination of practicality, cleanliness, and comfort in one of the city’s most vibrant...

Second Stay – Very Disappointed with Housekeeping and Front Desk Service This is my second time staying at Stanford Myeongdong Hotel, and I was sadly disappointed with the service during this visit. Upon check-in, the female front desk staff was unfriendly and unwelcoming – quite a contrast to my previous experience. However, I want to commend the male staff who responded to my complaint; he was professional, respectful, and handled the situation well. The main issue was with housekeeping, which was completely unacceptable for a hotel of this level: On multiple days, our room was still not cleaned after 4:30pm. When I asked, I was told that cleaning service ends at 4:30pm. After expressing my dissatisfaction, the housekeeping staff insisted we leave the room within 20 minutes for them to clean – this felt very rushed and disrespectful. Every single day, there were problems: Day 1: Used tissue left in the bathroom Day 2: Lint roller left behind on the headboard (see photo) Day 3: Dirty cups and pillowcase left in the room without cleaning (see photos) Day 4: Housekeeping threw away our personal toothbrush without permission These are clear signs of carelessness and a lack of attention to basic cleanliness and guest belongings. I've attached photos as evidence of the poor housekeeping. As someone who chose to come back to this hotel, I expected consistent quality – but unfortunately, the experience has gone downhill. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this hotel unless serious improvements are made to staff training and housekeeping standards.
