Din Tai Fung Myeongdong — Restaurant in Seoul

I’m so confused by the rating. We had an incredible experience here.

We ordered as we went, we didn’t order everything at once so we can gauge how much to order.

We had the chili shrimp wontons that were excellent.

Shrimp pork soup dumplings were so yummy.

Booth shrimp buns were so good the bread was nice and soft.

We had tea at the table and split an entree of chicken and ordered greens and cucumbers. Then we ordered some shrimp eggrolls, those I didn’t like as much cause of the cream. But other than that everything was amazing.

Terrible for vegans compared to other country locations. ABSOLUTELY AVOID!!! I have been to Din Tai Fung in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and USA. All locations mentioned have amazing vegetable dumplings, vegetable buns and vegetable side dishes. None of those were available here in Korea DTF. Also, I thought I managed to scrap by and order one of the few vegan mains I could find on the menu: "Spicy Sesame and Peanut Noodle Soup". There was no mention of meat or any animal products in the description. It arrived at my table with BEEF on it! BEEF! Absolutely...

The worst. So tourist unfriendly. When we got there, there were no other guests in line. Queueing system requires you to have south korea phone number or ask the receptionist. Receptionist completely ignored us, attended to 3 phone calls, 2 riders and 4 people behind us were already able to get a number. When we started to complain, she went inside again and asked someone else to talk to us. That is around 10 minutes later and when we were finally given a number we were already 6th.
