Read moreMy experience at this hotel doesn't match the high ratings that everyone else has given it. When I reached my room, the door was open. Upon entering there was an extremely strong smell (likely cigarettes) and realized that housekeeping probably kept the door open to try to air it out before my arrival. It was strong enough that I asked for a new room. The new room was on a different floor where this time the hallway smelled absolutely awful, and the smell never went away for the 4 days I stayed. My room was small (to be expected in Seoul) and there was a bloodstain on the ceiling. It looked like it had been there a while. By the size of the blood smear, I assume a giant bug was smashed up there, but never cleaned. There was only one plug in the whole room, located inside a small cut out on the desk, and my computer charger did not fit inside the cut out so I had to charge my computer in the bathroom instead. There were no outlets or USB ports anywhere else in the room. There was only one main light switch, located on the far side of the room, with 6 light buttons and none of them properly labeled. Whenever I wanted to turn off the lights I had to roll across the bed because there was a chair much too large for the room completely blocking the small walking access around the bed. The carpet in the room and hallway were stained, bleached, and had a lot of cut outs filled in with new carpet patches. The bathtub was so short that I was able to easily touch the ceiling (I am 5'2"/157 cm) - if my 6'+ husband had been with me on this trip, his head would have touched the ceiling and he wouldn't have fit under the shower head. The photos online don't match what I saw. The two plus sides to this hotel: breakfast wasn't bad, and the room was surprisingly quiet considering it's literally steps away from the center of Myeong-dong shopping street (very convenient!). The proximity to the shopping street though meant that there was always a ton of garbage right outside the hotel in the morning, though it was always cleaned up by...
Read moreWent there last week and stayed 4 nights. I booked premier triple room. Supposed to get a nicer room. At the same time, my friend is staying at the same hotel in a lower floor. First night, the AC vent on the ceiling was dripping water. After a long day, i had to call the front desk to address the dripping water issue. A guy came to took a quick look and said, it is an AC! my husband asked if this is supposed to happen with your AC? he said yes. And he said he will sent a technician to my room anyway. Tech came to confirm, it is fine, suck it up. will stop in an hour. After an hour, 1am, i hear some indoor raining, got my suitcase wet. Called again, they moved me to a suckier room at lower floor. On the 2 second morning, my husband went to try congee for breakfast. I took my daughter to join my friends for hotel breakfast buffet. My friends room came with breakfast. Food was ok, but selection is limited. The bill came, they charged my friends full amount. Even tho they already took their room number and confirmed they are covered. Have to tell them again and they removed it. My 6 yrs old paid USD18 to eat 2 pieces of watermelon, and she wanted to leave. I called my hubby to get her. As my hubby entered the restaurant, the lady told him that buffet was closing in 10 mins, so cannot serve him. He said, i am just saying hi to friends. She said ok. He came to my table, the manager guy, rush to my table and said, you have 2 adult and 1 kid. i said no, he came to pay and leaving now. Manager said ok! My gave my hubby my daughter and my bill, told him to pay. The lady who told him cannot serve him, added extra adult cost. He said i just came in, and I told you i am here to get my girl and say hi. She didn't care. Manager came, my hubby goes off on him. And he finally agreed to take off the charge. Great lodging doesn't make the trip any different. A bad hospitality at the hotel, however, ruined the whole trip. So thanks Royal...
