보칼리노 Boccalino — Restaurant in Seoul

A wonderful high end experience, great service, good quality food, and authentic Italian cuisine. I have very strict dietary restrictions and was able to find gluten free and keto/paleo style options here! This has been difficult to find in Seoul, but the team were extremely accommodating of my needs and offered alternative options with pleasure. It is indicative of high level service when a restaurant can premeditate your needs and make your dining experience feel special with simple gestures like bringing GF bread and small dessert offering (blueberries instead of pastry) to the table without having to request it. I had a green garden salad (very fresh with quality olive oil) and chicken diavolo with roasted vegetables. My husband had the lasagne, which he said was amazing. Menu was extensive in general with pasta & pizza options (even some pasta is available gluten free!) plus selection of classic protein mains. The space itself is beautiful with high ceilings, large and airy floor plan, and pretty ambient lighting. We arrived early and were seated at a private booth. Overall very happy So good we will be back again...

The service (very attentive without being intrusive) and atmosphere in the restaurant were very good, but unfortunately we were very disappointed about the food. We had the chef's menu (plus ordered wine). I can't really think of any of the courses that I'd like to eat again. There was a steak so I suppose you can't really go far wrong with that but it was nothing special. Neither the pasta nor any vegetable offerings had any fresh or interesting taste - tasted more as if they came from a tin. This is not a cheap option so it was doubling disappointing that the food was so unattractive to us. Maybe the pizzas and pastas ordered separately are better - they looked more appetizing on other tables. I don't know much about Southern Italian food so maybe it is just not...
