Mangwon-dong Udon and Donkas — Restaurant in Seoul

Very comforting bowl of soupy noodles. Definitely go for the version with fish cakes (어묵우동), and get the spicy version if you can take spice (it is quite spicy!). The donkatsu is great too, would recommend ordering both to share!

Ordering is efficient: if there's a queue, you would join the queue first, then order and pay when you're next in line, and you will be assigned an empty table to sit at and the food is usually served quickly.

Staff are friendly and understanding of tourists, the one taking orders at the counter usually understands...

(Korean and English descriptions) 위치: 망원에서 상당히 유명한 가게로 오픈은 화~토 11시부터 다음날 3시까지, 일요일은 12시부터 8시까지 영업한다.

가격 및 메뉴: 메뉴는 어묵우동, 돈까스가 대표적이며, 가격은 어묵 7000원, 돈가쓰 8000원이다. 우동은 순한맛, 보통, 매운맛으로 선택이 가능하나, 고추가루 자체가 매워서 보통으로도 신라면보다 더 매운맛이다.

구성: 어묵우동은 기본적으로 꼬치어묵하나와 쑥갓, 유부 그리고 우동면으로 구성되는데 면은 라면과 칼국수의 중간으로 일반 우동과는 차이가 있다

맛: 전형적인 휴게소의 인스턴트 우동 맛으로 육수의 깊은 맛이나 면의 쫄깃함은 전혀없다. 정통 일본식이 아닌 한국화된 우동으로 가볍게 즐기기는 괜찮으나 멀리서까지 찾을 정도는 안됨.

Location: It is in the middle of Mangwon and Hapjeong station. This local restaurant gets high popularity during a decade and it opens from 11 am to 3am (on Tuesday and Saturday) and from 12pm to 8pm on Sunday. No information about Monday. Restaurant might close on Monday.

Price and Menu: There are three different menus, Normal Udon, Udon with fish cakes and Pork Cutlet. Customers can choose how spicy they want (Mild, Medium and hot) The medium level of Udon has the same level of spiciness with Mexican paper.

Food composition: Udon with fish cakes consists of fish cakes, crown daisy, fried tofu, and noodle. The noodle is thinner than traditional Japanese Udon. It is somewhere between Ramen and Udon.

Taste: it does not have deeper taste of soup and good texture of noodle. This is Koranized Udon. This is nowhere near the taste of real and delicious...

One of my favorite late-night joints. The menu is simple, and it works. Korean style udon is delightfully spicy, enough to wake you up (can adjust level of spice), and it’s a perfect match with crispy donkatsu. The service is efficient, and food comes out fast. Very satisfying. It’s a popular place, so expect to wait, but line moves...
