I came because of the numerous high Google ratings, but, as it turns out, the ratings were a result of the ₩2,000 discount that the store offers (see photo). They are not as fantastic as one would expect for the high rating. We ordered the sweet marinated pork galbi, which cost ₩21,000 for 200 grams. While the pork was tasty, it is just the typical taste of marinated pork that you can get at any grilled meat shop—nothing spectacular. I think that the meal is overpriced given the lousy and limited side dishes (see photo) and the extremely small serving of cold noodles. Many customers are surprised by the complementary cold noodles, but if you think about how much you are charged per portion of meat, you will realise that the cost of the noodles has already been built into the price, so there is nothing to scream about. It certainly is not the goodwill gesture by the restaurant that it would seem to be. Also, the cold noodles were not well made, as the noodles themselves were too soft and were only about a mouthful in quantity. While the shop grills the meat for customers, it was not really done well as there were many burnt bits. The staff could have done a better job. Lastly, the shop does not have the ventilation equipment necessary for getting rid of the smoke and smell generated when grilling, save for the 2 tables by the window/road. We sat inside, so by the middle of the grilling, I was all but choking from the smoke. It made for a really unpleasant experience. The staff also were not genuinely friendly; they were just keen to get you to order more, and had a tendency to upsell. Overall, the grilled pork is okay, but I am not impressed with the overall experience. I will neither recommend nor revisit...
Read moreIf you are in the area and looking for high quality korean bbq, I HIGHLY recommend coming to Mido Galbi! The service was exceptional, meat was extremely tender and flavorful, and the side dishes, soup, and nangmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) that came with our meal were also delicious. I came with my boyfriend for lunch and we had the 65,000 won wagyu beef set menu. We also ordered a serving of the homemade pork ribs for 18,900 won, and that was plenty of food for the both of us. The servers were very kind and helpful, even helping us make radish wraps on our plates!
Things to note: there is a self bar where you can refill your side dishes as much as you want, but it only opens for dinner time. Also, the server said the restaurant often gets full during dinner and people require reservations. We came at 1:30pm on a Monday and were seated and served immediately. If you don’t want to wait, I recommend coming during an off-peak hour.
Overall, 5/5 stars! I highly recommend and will be telling friends about...
Read moreMidogalbi is a delightful restaurant located in Jongno-gu Seoul Korea, known for its mouthwatering Korean barbecue dishes. I had the pleasure of dining there recently, and it was an exceptional experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the staff was attentive and friendly.
The highlight of the meal was, of course, the galbi (marinated short ribs) and pork ribs that a staff grills at your table. The meat was incredibly tender, and the marinade had the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. The banchan (side dishes) were also a treat, offering a variety of flavors and textures to complement the main course. The soup was superb as well! They also gave some free dumplings and cold noodles to try.
I must commend the restaurant's commitment to quality and freshness, which shone through in every bite, the quality of the food and the overall experience make it well worth the price. If you're looking for a memorable Korean barbecue experience in Korea, Midogalbi is definitely...
