Tagpol Park is a city park in Jongno area not far from the Jongmyo Shrine. Also referred to as Pagoda Park, this is an important historical location in Seoul with several interesting things to see. The park is open from 6am to 8pm daily.

Here you can see the 15th century, Wongaksa Pagoda. This is a 10-storey marble structure and an important national treasure which is encased in a glass building and supported by scaffolding. It is similar to the Gyeongcheonsa Pagoda you can see at the National Museum of Korea.

You will also find pavilion covering the historic Monument of Wongaksa, a tortoise with a pillar on its shell created in 1471. There are a number of bas relief murals lining the inner wall of the park. These are images of Korean patriots and the proclamation of Independence, which was recited here at Tagpol Park during the important March 1st Movement in 1919.

Other figures, sculptures and open park space can be found here at Tagpol Park, making this a nice add-on place to visit if you are planning spend time at the nearby UNESCO World Heritage site - Jongmyo Shrine. You can comfortably see the historical attractions here in 15-20 minutes and be...

Tapgol Park holds a special place in the hearts of Koreans, and my recent visit left me with a profound appreciation for its rich history and cultural significance. This beautiful park, with its lush greenery and serene atmosphere, is steeped in centuries-old memories, including those of King Sejong the Great.

As I strolled through the park, I was captivated by the numerous statues and monuments that pay homage to Korea's storied past. Each statue seemed to tell a story, reminding visitors of the enduring legacy of the country's great leaders and historical figures.

While renovations were underway during my visit, I could still sense the park's timeless charm and beauty. The ongoing efforts to preserve and enhance Tapgol Park are a testament to the deep respect and reverence Koreans have for their heritage.

Tapgol Park is more than just a green space; it's a living tribute to Korea's rich cultural heritage and a place where history comes alive. Whether you're a history buff or simply looking for a peaceful retreat in the heart of Seoul, I highly recommend a visit to...

It is a place with historical value. However, from the point of view of tourists, it cannot be said that it is a very impressive tourist destination.

Pagoda Park was established at the end of the 19th century. It is a modern park built by the mayor of Seoul with the permission of the last king of Korea. After its establishment, Pagoda Park became a very popular gathering place.

And in the early 20th century, it had a historical meaning as a symbol of the independence movement. It is the place where the Declaration of Independence was made.

However, in the mid-to-late 20th century, it became a space where commerce, rather than a public space, was actively conducted, and the young people who enjoyed this space at the time became old people in the 21st century and still keep their place.

Pagoda Park has been recognized as the most elderly space in Korea, and has become a very densely populated space for homeless people. It can be evaluated as a little bad for...

Be careful when you're here! This is a beautiful park which commemorates the Korean independence movement. The vibe is nice and chill, people chatting or playing chess. A ridiculously handsome man came up to me and asked me to pick between a bun and lottery ticket. Being a betting guy I picked the lottery ticket instead. Although disappointed, the ridiculously handsome guy gave me that delicious salt bun you see in that picture. He then asked me to visit his house next time to play a fun game of Russian Roulette. I declined because I was with my wife then. He did leave me a calling card with geometric shapes and phone number. Such a nice man. Although I did saw him stomp on the buns on the way out. He must be stressed from work. That or those buns must be expired or something. Such civic-mindedness to flatten your trash first before disposing them.
