Read moreOn our last day in Seoul, I decided to sign us up for a Korean cooking class. What sold me on the class was the menu, location (only a short walk from our hotel), and the fact that it was in English. I’m from the United States and love Korean food, but have always been intimidated at trying to cook it. Seoul Cooking Club changed that.
My son, sister and niece all came with me for a private 7 course learning experience. We were taught by the lovely Grace who definitely lives up to her name. She taught us not only how to cook several dishes including my favorites japchae, bulgolgi, and bibimbap, she gave us lessons behind the food. It was so enjoyable to listen to her talk about her culture.
My son said it was the highlight of the trip. He was delighted at the abundance of delicious food that he made on his own. Grace made learning to cook Korean food so fun that both my son and niece still rave about it.
At the end of the meal, we were gifted a cook book and tote bag. We were also able to box up our left overs (there was just too much to consume). Definitely come with empty bellies!
Seoul cooking club is so wonderful, I recommend it whole heartedly. One thing that completely touched my heart was when I asked Grace if she knew of an ophthalmologist that spoke English so that I could get my son’s eye checked out. She quickly found me a doctor, wrote a note in Korean for us to hand to the doctor and showed us directions on how to get there. She really went above and beyond. Her kindness will always be remembered.

The instructor was not only extremely knowledgeable but also passionate about teaching traditional Korean cooking techniques. She guided us through each step of the recipe with patience and enthusiasm, making sure that we understood the importance of each ingredient and technique.
Not only did I learn valuable skills and techniques, but I also had a blast during the class. The atmosphere was lively and fun, and I enjoyed getting to know my fellow classmates while we worked together to create delicious dishes.
The best part of the class was, of course, getting to taste the final results. The food we cooked was absolutely divine – bursting with flavors and perfectly cooked. I left the class feeling confident in my ability to recreate the dishes at home and excited to share my new skills with friends and family.
