This has become my favorite dessert place in Seoul! Forget about JL Dessert Bar, which has become overly commercialized and nothing like what it used to be. Sous le Gui is so underrated, which makes it even more charming, like a hidden neighborhood gem. When I went, they had only four kinds of eclair and two plated desserts on the menu. Iโ€™m typically not a fan of eclairs, but their blueberry eclair is not just the best Iโ€™ve ever had anywhere, but it completely changed my mind about eclairs! Just when I thought this was the best thing I found, next came the Gongi. I had no idea what it was as the explanation was in Korean, but it looked like something with glutinous rice. When I dipped the spoon in (go all the way as there are different layers) and took a mouthful, I was totally blown away! The top layer was glutinous rice, which covered a spoonful of rice gelato, with nuts and rice crackers at the bottom for an extra crunch. The combination was incredible! Very traditional ingredients presented in a modern plated dessert. It seems like the menu changes regularly, so Iโ€™ll be back every time Iโ€™m in Seoul. Yes prices have gone up (based on menus others have posted in the past), but this is still a steal compared to JL Dessert Bar.

Seating is a bit cramped but otherwise the interior decor is beautiful! The standard of the desserts are similar to what you can find in France. The boss graduated from Cordon Bleu in 2015 so expect nothing less than quality dessert.

Seating is a bit cramped but otherwise the interior decor is beautiful! The standard of the desserts are similar to what you can find in France. The boss graduated from Cordon Bleu in 2015 so expect nothing less than quality dessert.

Reviews of Sous le gui

Yes prices have gone up (based on menus others have posted in the past), but this is still a steal compared to JL...
