TeD Trattoria Italiana - Playa Fañabé — Restaurant in Adeje

Annoyed from the start.

We checked their menu outside and decided to come in. Older lady who looked like the owner is quite stern and frosty. She reminded us that they don’t serve pizza and they serve authentic Italian pasta, check the menu if you like it come in - which I thought was a bit odd as we had already read the menu and was already coming in.

It was about 9pm so we wanted to order super quick. Tried to order 3 times but as they only have one electronic ordering pad you have to wait for the lady with it to come round.

Tried to order carbonara for one of my kids and was put off from ordering it as she said it may be too cheesy for my child and this is how they make it “authentic and Italian”. Tried to order spaghetti bolognese and again was put off by the old lady saying the portion may be too big. Ended up ordering 2 kids portions of spaghetti bolognese which was ok for kids with smaller appetites, came with a side of chips which I felt was odd as this lady had banged on about it being so authentic.

We asked for all food to come all together and waiter said pasta will take a while so have the starter first (of which we only had 1 x fried squid). Kids food came out super quick about 10mins, followed by the squid.

Our Adult mains came out about 30mins later because of the apparent cooking time of the lasagne and they wanted to bring the food together which I thought was strange because they brought the other food so super quick. So our kids had finished their food whilst we were starting ours.

Food is actually really nice and well cooked. Good selection of wine. Venue is sweet and on the sea front - though atmosphere maybe ruined by the the local Brits karaoke bar next door which seemed to start at 930pm (though we were enjoying the tunes as it made the meal experience better!)

Overall I think there’s an odd military type rule by lady owner which ruins some elements of this nice restaurant. Felt too controlled, contrived and the overly nice fake service is obviously what gets them certain...

Would give it zero stars if possible!! Family of 3, waited 45+mins for our starter (the waiter recommended some garlic bread as my son’s steak would take 15 mins to cook) this never arrived and they completely forgot about it!! They brought out portions of chips meant for main meal with the starter which was nothing more than a plate of oily tasteless mushrooms. My son’s steak was raw when asked for medium, waiter was rude when I asked him to return this to the kitchen to be cooked more. carbonara was a gigantic plate of unedible stodge!!! My partners “homemade” pasta was undercooked and over cheesed! People around us seemed to be enjoying their meals so we decided not to say anything but the woman owner decided to come over to our table in a loud agressive manner and challenge us on why we were not eating the food. We tried to be polite and say nothing was wrong but she was angry and lifted my partners napkin of his plate to see how much he had eaten! She removed the plates and we asked for the bill. She then returned to our table in front of the whole restaurant and again unnecessarily loud and agressively insinuated we don’t like Italian food as her husband has been a chef for 30 years and no one else has a problem!!! We understand people have different tastes and we were trying not to imply the food was bad but couldn’t physically eat the stodge put in front of us! We are on family holiday with 10 year old and found this lady’s mannerism disgusting and very very rude and uncalled for to out us in front of a whole restaurant just simply because we didn’t like her food!!! Avoid at all costs!!!!! Totally unprofessional to embarrass customers for their taste in food. had this woman not behaved this way we would of just left politely....

Avoid! We were recommended this place and were excited to go, it was such a let down. Staff are extremely rude, they only bother with you and speak to you if you are Italian, closing time was not till 10:30 yet they were refusing customers at 9:40 and laughing and sniggering as they were not Italian , if they were Italian they would not of been refused. pasta was very good to be fair to them but all other food not good, prawns taste fishy and bland, I ordered steak and was appalled by what I was served, 5 pieces of cold sliced steak on a plate with burned aubergine and uncooked tomato for 20 euro no sides at all. Pasta is the only thing worth visiting for. The staff need to learn a little more about customer service. Anything I asked for no we can not do that no we can not looking at us like we just killed somebody it was my girlfriends 30th today and we were disgusted this is coming from quiet people who are not one bit fussy at all. Plus no sides steak for 20 euro 1/4 of a cold pale looking steak with burned aubergine shocking. Go if you want good pasta and don't care about being treated like you don't...
