Bar restaurante Smile Terraza del Mar — Restaurant in Antigua

Potential scam on creditcards!! Food ok but service terrible. No "Smile" yesterday, servers arguing among themselves loudly and continuesly resulting in very poor attention to customers. When we wanted to pay first the waiter did not know if they accepted Amex and had to try it in the cardreader....they did Not..then the next card was put in (Visa debit) and terminal was given to us to put in Pincode....Pincode put in and approved..terminal back to waiter...waiter says "sorry, transaction not gone through due to loss of connection" we say "no problem, please give us a Void receipt and we can try again" waiter says"no, can not do that, you have to pay again..."?After a long and from our side calm and collected explanation that after having put in the Pin code our transaction is accepted by the system and stored in the card reader and have to be voided the waiter calls the owner over, he also insist we pay again....with No Void receipt...and then decides to call the Police on us...We now decide to call our bank and fix the potential multiple charge at our end of the system....they will now only get one payment even if the multiple transactions stored in the machine are all sent to the network. All this is for a charge of 26€...We now make a new transaction on the terminal and this time it goes through...while we leave the police arrive...we do not get additionally involved but leave the establishment to explain themselves to the police they calledvdue to their inability to work a cardterminal correctly....if you go here pay cash...maybe you can get the Smile they've put in their name but not in their manner....PS. Their level of English is not...

I am Italian and a local resident, living in Caleta de Fuste since few years. I like to try different spots and restaurants in Fuerteventura but Smile, it is and remains one of the my favorite places in Caleta, under many aspects:

FOOD: You can choose from a large variety of food (Pasta, Pizza, Fish or Meat, sides, salads, delicious desserts and so on…)

LOCATION: with a stunning sea-view, its terrace represents one of the most beautiful spot to stop and enjoy the relaxing view of Caleta’s Beach. Perfect even just for a simple coffee or a quick bite on the go, while enjoying that beautiful scenario. I strongly suggest daytime where, during sunny days, the sunlight reflecting the sea and the sand gives You a beautiful kaleidoscope of colors!!!

SERVICE and STAFF: friendly and fast service will make You not regret the choice of the restaurant and Maximilian, always there to welcome and greet You with a big, warm SMILE… perfectly in line with the...

This was one of our favourite restaurants for food or just a drink with a beautiful beach and seaview, however I will not be going again until they resolve the issue of rude staff who at 21:30 are rushing you to finish your food and drinks so they can close at 22:00. We often sat and enjoyed a few drinks looking over the bay, however on the last 3 occasions the staff have told us that there isnt any ice to go in any drinks and if we wanted a cocktail it would be warm leaving us no option but to go elswhere even though this was only just past 21:00. I can forgive them running out of ice on one occasion but 3 is very poor management and im not convinced it was true and was used as a tactic to just move us on so we didnt delay the closing up time. Very poor and i will not be reccomending...
