There are a few Italian restaurants in Calente de fuste. This one is a little more upscale and fancy. Sporting a great location, so if you have a good night weather wise we highly recommend sitting outside. It was absolutely fantastic to sit on the board pier and watch the sunset over the hills and beach. Apparently this and the other resurants are part of the hotel chain. Which is a smart thing to do. Also the foods on offer are fairly different from each other. Sporting a great location to eat. We didn't try the next door, which seemed to focus on fish. It looked good too. The menu has a lot of tourists firm favourites. I noticed a lot of the men on other tables ordering pizzas. Who can blame them, Hubby went adventurous as well... Bolognese with tagliatelle. This was nice, one of the better Bolognese I have had in Calente de Fuste. Wifey tried the Risotto Dolce Vita, an asparagus and stracciatella with Parma ham. This was delicious, Hubby loved this, and all of a sudden wish I had been more adventurous. It was so flavoursome and the asparagus really popped out. We both loved our main dishes however were stuffed as we decided to order the sharing board with mozzarella, hams, rocket, tomatoes... So fresh and delicious. Everything was a treat, the location was fantastic and the food was great. The only criticism I have is of service, not to suggest that it was bad. Sadly English isn't as wide spread, I think only one staff member was fluent, one was mid, and the last had no understandingl. This created some rush and at times and it was difficult to order another beer at times. On the table next to us, there was a bit of a disagreement. Not sure what happened, but the customers were not happy with their order. While I didn't hear everything going on, what I took away was that there was a miscommunication in orders. And again it wasn't that the service was bad. Far from it, fairly friendly and good. But you could see there was a rush, as there were 3 girls servicing what I could see 12 tables. And the problem was that only one waitress really understood what customers were saying in English. And apart from one table's mishap, all other tables seemed to be happy and enjoyed their night as well. For hubby, the nights weather was fantastic, as the sun set you could see all the lights, all the people and traffic. I never realised how many people lived in the town. And I really wished we had this kind of weather back home... That was how lovely that night was. And we highly recommend eating here... We hope you get really calm and warm night as it makes it so...
Read moreFirst time my wife and myself have dined at this restaurant. It is our last day today so we decided to go out for a nice lunch and came across this restaurant by looking around the pretty little harbour. Expecting to pay a premium for the setting at the waterside, to find the menu prices very reasonable in fact all of the dishes on the menu were priced alot cheaper than other places we have dined at in the centre of Caleta. The young waiter who was on his own was exceptionally friendly and was working so hard looking after all of the diners and the restaurant was nearly full. My wife opted for a ham and mushroom pizza and I had the spicy diavlo pizza. Both cooked to perfection with bubbled crispy charcoaled edges as you would expect being cooked in a fired pizza oven. We opted for the panacotta and tiramasu puddings to finish off with a couple of bottles of water. The whole bill came to €42's, which we thought was very reasonable. The young waiter offered us a free peretife afterwards which was the icing on the cake. What can I say just what a fantastic restaurant in a beautiful setting with 1st class service. Such a shame we found this little paradise on our last day but if we return again one day we will definitely...
Read moreGenerally a terrible experience and usually we tend to persevere with the meal, but we ended up paying and leaving before even receiving our main meals.
The night before there was a plethora of empty tables and were told we had to reserve and the reason given was that they need to provide great service and they can't do this with walk-ins.
We reserved a table for the next night and ordered our meals and then 10 minutes later received half our starter, noone seemed overly bothered that we hadn't touched the food as we were waiting on our focaccia. We let one of the servers know and they said they'd look into it, 20 minutes later still no sign of the rest of our food.
We then decided to call it quits and just ask for the bill, without receiving our focaccia or main meals. The lady said there was a problem with the machines, but they take paper copies of the order so shouldn't have been that difficult.
Overall ruined our evening that we had spent all day looking forward to. Really felt like a let down to the Barcelo experience which we have...
