I ordered the pork paella and it was honestly one of the worst dishes I’ve ever had. There was only a very thin layer of rice, and it had clearly been sitting out too long—it arrived burnt and crunchy, not in a good way. Even worse, the pork on top was undercooked. Unlike beef or lamb, pork should never be served rare—it’s a serious food safety concern.

When I raised this issue, a female server responded with shockingly rude and dismissive behavior. Instead of apologizing, she defensively said, “This is paella, not rice,” and then asked me, “Do you speak English?”—which I found both offensive and borderline discriminatory. I’ve had paella before, which shouldn’t be black and dry and hard. After her explanation (which made no sense), she rolled her eyes, shrugged, and let out a loud “tsk” before walking away.

No apology. No accountability. Just attitude.

The food quality was unacceptable, but what really ruined the experience was the lack of basic respect and professionalism from the staff. I would never return to this restaurant, and I strongly advise others...

Arrived at 18:35 (5 minutes after opening) to find the restaurant completely empty despite the app indicating the restaurant was fully booked all evening. A second table arrived 5 minutes or so after me, a table of 2. Their food and drink order was taken before mine which I found slightly frustrating but not too much of an annoyance. I ordered the steak which came with potato wedges and small bell peppers, having wished I had taken a photograph, I had 5 potato wedges and about 10 peppers on the plate. I requested some mayonnaise which took just short of 10 minutes to arrive which were presented in the small sealed Hellmanns jars, however one of which had been opened and used by a previous diner. No-one asked how my food was whilst I was eating, and I was not offered a second drink during my dine. I would completely avoid if you are looking for a personable ‘last evening’ visit as this really didn’t meet the expectations this venue projects...

A veces...

We called by here tonight for an evening meal, as the place looks great just by the harbour. However, appearances can be deceptive! The drinks order was taken very promptly and efficiently. Then after 20+ minutes we had to signal a “waitress” over who was aimlessly wandering about. Whilst being quite charming being from Valencia…& Aberdeen! Did not put the order in and seemed to the disappear. The food eventually came with mumbled apologies and dried crispy rice. Not a great culinary experience….but a pleasant view. Part of a very big hotel and entertainment hub, which is best avoided. We will definitely NOT go back.

The Mar Salada is part of the Barceló Complex. The restaurant has a nice view, perfect for dinner and a sundowner. For starter, we had the Patatas Bravas and the Tomato Bread, both were good, but actually not necessary because you get free bread with olive oil and Canary Potatoes upfront. For main dish we had the Salmon and the Pluma. Both dishes were very yummy. Together with a bottle of wine you can enjoy and relax.
