I stopped by Casa Playa to enjoy a coffee followed by the typical Canarian local appetiser (patatas arrugadas, see picture) when visiting Los Christianos for the first time. I won't produce a positive review in this occasion, given the extremely poor food and service.
When asked for the appetiser, I was presented with cold potatoes that were not fresh. I told the waitress that what I was served was cold and not fresh. She took the dish back and returned after 5 minutes. Potatoes were hot, but one could see that they looked like left overs of the day before. The local sauces, mojos, did not seem freshmade - something I've never experienced when staying in Tenerife. This, certainly, did not leave a pleasant memory of the place.
Service was attentive, but a tad annoying, giving I was disturbed multiple times (after being served a coffee and having paid for it) to see if I wanted to order food. I found this approach quite unusual and, to larger extent, inappropriate, given the establishment is situated on the beach and customers are allowed to relax while looking at the sea. This brings me to the final part of the review, location.
Location was handy, as the business is situated on the beach and also features beach umbrellas and a tanning area. This makes it ideal to relax while sunbathing and enjoying the day at Los Christianos. However, close businesses would serve this purpose much better.
I hope this feedback will be taken on board by staff. The experience was...
Read moreThis place has always been a must visit for us whenever we have been to tenerife over the past 15 years due to the quality of the food. This year upon visiting, the place has had a recent face-lift and it looks great.. however there are some big downfalls. The furniture is very mixed. If you get a wooden chair its really uncomfortable to sit in. Thry have some padded seating areas next to glass fronted balcony overlooking thr beach, but these are too big, or need some smaller areas because most of them seat 6 or more, but are taken up by couples or even individuals really quickly. One guy was sat on his own for our entire visit which seemed like a waste but there isn't any control by the staff of these areas. The food was the worst shock though. Having always loved to visit here for the quality of food, I was very disappointed this year. I ordered some canaries potatoes at over 7euro.. and got 7 of thr worst looking, most beaten up tiny looking potatoes ever.. on teo seperate visits. They were not nice, cutting into them thry were very fibrous and just beaten up. It was clear this was an issue for me but no one cared. I had much better catering potatoes at one of the Chinese run cheap spots on the front at playa. Some of the food portions are very big so I would say value for money, but the place is a favorite spot for locals which is a good sign ordinarily.. perhaps I was...
Read moreThe place looks nice! Genuine looks and feels of a beach club with a nice view of the beach and sea.
However, what threw me off was that the service is all about getting people in and out as fast as possible. We sat down, ordered a drink and it arrived in literally no less than 10 seconds. Ordered food, and it arrived in no less than two minutes. The staff was also quick to the point and did not seem keen on a friendly, chill interaction, but rather it went like “drinks or food? - Both, okay, first drinks. - Now food. - Okay.”
It was extremely hastily and it felt like we needed to be done as fast as possible.
That aside, there is a dock with a ferry next to the beach club. So it is continuously busy right next to the restaurant with cars honking their horns non stop because everyone is impatient nowadays. This, combined with drunk screaming Brits and crying babies, really did not make me feel like I was enjoying a chill lunch in the sun.
The food itself was alright, I had a cheeseburger but they added waaaay too much cheese. As it was literally overspilling and dripping from one side of the burger all over my hand as I gripped the bun.
I know some of it is out of control of management, but its just to inform anyone and let them know what its like...
