Abordo — Restaurant in Arona

Three of us dined at Abordo tonight, two fish lovers and a non fish lover. We were greeted warmly at the door and shown straight to our table. The main waiter came over, gave us his recommendations and then left us plenty of time to make a decision. Before we went we were nervous as the non fish options were limited, but my friend settled on the vegetable lasagne. When the waiter came back he told us they were out of lasagne, but offered an alternative pasta dish with vegetables. My friend cannot eat dry foods due to a health condition, when we explained this, the waiter asked us what she would like made and it would be made that way. I have never been to a restaurant that treated us as highly. A couple of minutes after giving the order, my friend thought she would like a side of mushrooms, we called the waiter back and again asked how she would like them cooked and told her it was no problem to have these. When her food arrived, she was incredibly impressed! It was delicious and met all of her requirements! I shared a fish and shellfish platter with my other friend. This was immaculate! When it first arrived it looked too big for two to share, but we could not stop eating it and finished everything. I am not sure what all of the fish were but there was prawns, mussels, clams and two portions for four other different fish! This was all amazing, the flavours were great and everything was cooked really well! The deserts and sangria are not to be missed out on either, and are really good value for money! We loved our experience, with great food at a really good price and...

One of the worst restaurant experiences ever.

It began when we arrived and were informed we needed a reservation, despite numerous available tables. After making a reservation for four at 18:30 (at 18:05), we were denied early seating... When seated, only two menus were provided, and the drink options were absent. The menu had poorly translated and incorrectly written items. We were consistently ignored by four different waiters until we called them. The service included frozen, overdone rolls with hard butter, and the unordered buns were later charged.

After calling another waiter for ordering, he was pretending, that he don't understand my order, so I repeated myself four times...On the question, what is the fish filet of the day, he said "Canarian fish", instead of saying a kind of fish...

The fish filet of the day, turned out to be kind of tuna and was the only half satisfactory dish.

The pasta resembled instant noodles with a terrible sauce.

The Calamaris was made out of frozen ones and not completely fried! I found three real Calamaris under my supermarket rings, the other portion was completely just frozen ones.

Complaints were met with the manager insisting everything was made with fresh ingredients. No comment on this.

This ranks as one of my worst restaurant experiences, with the only positive note being the polite Indian busboy who tried his best despite not being allowed to...

The only positive thing was the food, which was pretty good. However, please be aware of the fact that the prices are listed without taxes (extra 7%), which as far as I know currently it's illegal. Also, it was added on our bill "11 pan con mantequilla - 17,60 eur" which is something which we never ordered. Or probably was for the 6 pieces of bread with some butter and sauce which we got on the table (without asking or being asked if we want). But generally, that's complimentary and if that's not the case, we should have been asked if we would like to order and also the price. We have made an online reservation which was confirmed but upon arrival at the restaurant there was nothing available and we had to wait for 30-40 minutes. This is quite unprofessional behaviour, I would say. The service was basic, leaving us the impression that the people attending the customers are not there to make them feel well, but to rush them, to make them consume as much as they can ... kind of money making machine.

As a conclusion, for the behaviour of the entire staff (confirming a reservation when you actually can not offer a table, taxes not included in the menu, adding things on the bill which were not ordered, pushing attitude for selling etc.) I would not recommend the place. It is not precisely cheap and you won't receive the deserved experience for...
