Average to below average place. EXTREMELY poor service. The place seems to be run by a family of three so when I wanted to place the order, I had a question and the mom just responded with âthis is what we have and thatâs itâ and simply left, not even waiting for me to finish my question. Then when I was placing my order, I took a pause in the middle to think and the mom just left and started tending to others which was quite rude in my opinion. When the food arrived, the naan came with no butter so when I asked for it, I was given the most stern look ever as if I asked for her first born child. Later, when I looked around to find someone to ask for a drink, the mother just assumed I wanted the cheque and talked with an attitude. At that point, I really didnât want to deal with them anymore so I agreed but then had to wait another 15 minutes to get my cheque. Know that this was after 30+ minutes of waiting for food already. When I got the cheque, I immediately placed my card on the bill and went to wash my hands. When I came out, the daughter asked if I was going to pay by cash or card which means they didnât even bother looking at the fact that I had already placed my card. After 5 minutes, she finally came with the card machine, I paid the bill and left. Not only was it tardy service but there was no sense of hospitality. Not talking would have been better than the unnecessary mean attitude thrown around. The food was mediocre. Nothing glamours and had a weird after taste. I also asked for garlic in my kashmiri naan and thought it would be of no extra charge since they didnât say anything but then added an additional euro to the final bill.
To the owner's response: Apolgies that I just came from the airport after having dropped off my luggage at my hotel to eat some food and didn't know that tap water was not served in Lanzarote. Instead of correcting me by simply saying "The island does not serve tap water since its not suitable for drinking. We have a bottle of water if you'd like", you just HAD to make a face and then walk away. Also for whatever reason, I am not worthy of asking for things (never demanded, I don't know where you got that from) unless I buy things, in this case, a bottle of water. I wasn't annoyed by "cash or card" question, I was just annoyed that everything took 5x amount of time than it should. There was no reason for the waitress to just stroll around after HER having ASKED me if I wanted the cheque. I also simply asked if you have a dish with paneer and more vegetables. Never brought up spinach, I am actually allergic to spinach so that's out of the question. She 100% should have said "This is all we have", you are right but the tone she said it in sounded entitled, like I was beneath her for asking for it. But truly, if you would like to go to a restaurant that just caters to your needs, go visit Indian Delights in Playa Blanca. I wasn't stared down at there when I asked a question about the dishes because that's just simple human decency. You are absolutely correct in charging me an extra euro, I never said that you aren't. I wish it was communicated, that is all. Also, please don't go talking about respect because the lack of it is exactly why I wrote such a lengthy review. The mother could not even stand still while I gave her my order, waiting to disappear to tend to others because I was not worth her time. I left my card at the table for a reason, so I could wash my hands, come back having my bill paid and leave. The restaurant was busy given that it was only three people running it, I agree, but all I really needed for someone to tend to me so I did't have to have my hand up for 10 minutes which is not an unresonable ask but somehow this makes me unempathatic. You think you are on some high horse by having waited for me to come back from the bathroom but in reality, you didn't even realize I left my card. Throught the dinner, I was just a ghost tended to when things were being ruffled but otherwise, you would rather not have me there, a clean sign for poor respect and...
Read moreAs someone from London who knows their way around good Indian food, I have to say that Tandoori Palace is an absolute gem! Iâve been here a few times now, and each visit has been fantastic.
This time, I tried the lamb dish, and it was simply amazingâperfectly spiced and cooked to perfection. Iâve also tried other dishes, like the Tandoori Chicken, which is equally incredible. The flavors are authentic, and the quality of the food is top-notch. The restaurant is located right by the harbor, has a stunning view that makes dining here even more special especially when sitting outside with a drink in hand.
The staff were super welcoming and friendly, always making me feel right at home. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was just right and if the food was to my liking. The facilities are spotless, including the toilets, which is always a plus.I can't recommend this place enoughâdelicious food, great views, and amazing service. Iâll definitely be coming back on...
Read moreMy partner and I ate here on the evening of 25/11/2024.
We have eaten at many Indian restaurants; mainly in the UK, but some in other countries. We both felt that 4/5 was the appropriate mark for the food.
The food was very good, unconventional (compared to our previous experiences) but a slight case of "sauce over substance". The portion sizes were reasonable and the prices were fair, especially on alcohol, where the taxation is far less than in the UK.
The two people who served us seemed pretty miserable, although one did seem to cheer up a bit at the end of our visit. The venue isn't the most attractive of restaurants, but this wasn't an issue to us.
Overall, we'd recommend it.
Edit: I didn't claim we were treated differently to anyone else and "miserable" is an appropriate word to use in a review. It's a shame that you reflected on the negatives and imagined negatives more than the positives. You would do well to reflect...
