I must say my experience at Taca La Raspa in Arrecife was, unfortunately, quite disappointing—largely due to the service, but also because the food failed to impress.
From the moment we arrived, the interaction with our server—who I believe may have been Eastern European and had brightly colored hair—felt uncomfortable. She insisted that we order drinks first and wait for them to arrive before allowing us to place our food order, even though we already knew exactly what we wanted to eat. It came across as unnecessarily rigid and unwelcoming, setting a poor tone for the meal.
As for the food, it was underwhelming. We tried the fried fish, which was passable, and tuna tacos that were noticeably dry. The papas arrugadas lacked the usual tenderness and flavor one expects from this Canarian classic, and the mojo sauce served alongside was perhaps the least enjoyable I’ve ever had—bland and lacking the characteristic punch. The grilled cheese arrived drenched in too many competing sauces, overpowering what should have been a simple, flavorful dish.
The redeeming element of the meal was the wine—a Vulcano seco, crisp and refreshing, which helped elevate an otherwise average culinary experience. However, at €73 for two people, the value for money was simply not there.
In summary, while the restaurant has a nice location and potential, I found both the service dynamics and the execution of the food disappointing. I would suggest improvements in staff hospitality and more careful attention to the balance and...

Tried Tasca la Raspa based on online ratings and we were sorely disappointed.
The squid croquettes were awful, definitely not fresh and had very little squid in them. Honestly, they appeared to be mostly polenta cooked in squid ink with some tiny pieces of squid. The papas bravas were also disappointing and a very meagre portion for €9. As we couldn't finish the food because of the poor quality, the server asked if we didn't like it. When we politely responded, "unfortunately it wasn't to our taste", they ignored us and did not even offer a simple recognition of not producing an edible meal. This lack of basic customer service is also evident from their replies to any negative review on Google.
Also, a quick note, the bread has a hidden cost of €2 whereas other places provide bread without charge.
The only positive was that the cider was ice cold but that wouldn't be enough for...
Read moreThe restaurant is set in a lovely area of the harbour and had a good range of menu options across meat, fish, cheese and vegetarians options, all of which are all priced for the area. However, on the night we were there, all of the outside tables were occupied and the 2 table service staff that appeared to be on duty looked over run. We waited a good hour before anyone took our food order, watching as at least 4 other tables seated after us ordered and had food brought out while we sat with empty drinks glasses. As a plus, once our order was in, food did arrive very quickly; nothing fancy and maybe a tad agricultural in appearance, but...
