From entering this amazing establishment, until after leaving, there can only be praise. Our host even chased me down the street after I left my credit card (due to one-too-many dessert cocktails)!
When we arrived, we were greeted cheerily, our booking confirmed and the two of us were seated at a commodious 4-seater in the beautiful mellow dining lounge. Soon, some exquisite Moquitos (with my wife's virgin version [almost] matching my de facto variant) were adding to our relaxation. Our hosts, Julian and Fabian were attentive without ever being overbearing. We inquired of the latter about the intriguing 6-course tasting menu. We were given the option of keeping it elusive and being a surprise or him revealing the details. As the cocktail was already working (and the ambiance of this beautiful establishment was having its effect too), it was a no-brainer that we decided that this evening should be one of surprises. An excellent decision!
Spoiler alert if you're considering following suit....
We were treated to the exquisite roast beef (carpaccio really) with mustard ice cream. As other reviewers have stated; this is a stand-out signature dish. The recommended Priorat Gine Gine red Catalan wine was the perfect accompaniment: flavoursome but not overpowering for the following sea food courses. Incredibly, the scallops that followed matched the high standard of the beef. Our main courses of perfectly cooked hake and a unique twist on pork ribs continued the culinary treat. The latter really was something special that should not be missed. A pina colada foam and chocolate with salt comprised the perfect desserts. Again, the latter was to-die-for.
As if the wonderful food wasn't enough, the service was equally impressive and really made the experience all the more memorable. It's a bit of a cliché, but we did feel like friends by the end. We mentioned that it was our 20 year wedding anniversary and shortly Fabian returned with a candled cake on a plate decorated with "Happy 20th anniversary" in raspberry coulis! So kind!!
We retired to the lounge area where Sergio dazzled us with his cocktail skills.
My wife and I cannot think of any way that the whole evening could be improved. That's a first for us.
I would recommend Acces to anyone who loves delicious food complemented by excellent drinks...
Read moreAccès is my go to when I want to take visitors or friends to a solid good restaurant. You get the feeling that you are important and you are treating yourself or more beeing treated by the staff. When there is someone's birthday the B-day person gets extra treat with candle. The staff is starting to know me even after just 3 visits. Maybe bebause on the first visit there I had friends and just got out of hospital after 2 surgeries due to compartment syndrome in the hand. As it was cordo por favor (well needed to ask them to ask the chef to cut my steak like for a child. No joke. But they gladly did it so I could enjoy my dinner and the deserts are heavenly.
Staff amazing, we were a little late one time and called he moved us back a half an hours without any problem and we came there and od course the table was free as it doesn't take half an hour for people to eat. Staff amazing, chefs you can see in the kitchen wich I love, and the food is heavenly as the deserts.
I would like a little bit bigger portions. But you don't end in food coma and over eating. But still a bit bigger portions would make it...
Read moreOur experience at Accès was incredible. It was one of the best dining experiences that my wife and I have had, from start to finish. We were a table of five, celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday. The staff took great care of us, especially Nadia (sommelier) and Jurius (server, name likely spelled wrong - sorry!). Nadia's wine pairings were fantastic - she tailored the experience to our tastes, and she was great to talk to throughout dinner. The food itself was absolutely delectable. The flavor combinations were unexpected, but absolutely delicious. Every course was bursting with incredible flavors that worked perfectly with each other, and the portions were quite generous - something that cannot always be said with fine dining establishments. All in all, our experience with Accès was exceptional, and I would highly recommend it for a unique dining experience in the wonderful city...
