Bar El Velódromo — Restaurant in Barcelona

This restaurant is racist to south East Asians full stop. My partner and I are both of asian descent and we were ignored when we went there. It was to the point of being ridiculous where ALL THE WAIT STAFF including the non white European ones tried their best to avoid all eye contact with us. If it wasn't so appalling it would actually be comedic.

It wasn't quiet but it wasn't busy for the place, so giving them a pass would not warrant in this situation. It got to the point where I had to go to the bar tender and ask if someone would show us a seat or if we just chose our own. That's when we met the "manager" who showed us our seats.

The manager is a wee, little fella with a prepubescents attempt at growing some facial landscape. All suited up and with facial pubes, I guess he decided to smite us with his power to belittle us "poor asians" by giving us a table without bothering to clean it. It literally had water stains and crumbs from the previous customers. Then he motioned for us to sit. A Spanish looking waiter took our orders. He was better than the teen pube moustache who gave us our table but hardly worth acknowledging either in terms of service. At best, he was competent.

The food was good but let's face it, this is Spain, ALL THE FOOD IS PRETTY GREAT. There's no restaurant here that could hold the helm on food alone.. .. The ambience and customer consideration are all contending points in creating a business worthy of a patrons loyalty. Then when we finished, I motioned for a waiter to confirm something .. I asked her whether not being acknowledged and given unclean tables was the norm in the restaurant. That's when I told her that I was a restaurant critic for a publication connecting tour packages and airlines for a magazine. Little did they know that their performance wasn't only for me and my partner to witness. Now, their iconic racist behaviour towards Asians will be published and distributed for millions to read about.

Look people, we are in 2019, when are people going to simply realise that we have internet? When are we going to realise that dismissing people on gender, race or age isn't something to be proud of? Disastrous Birthday Experience: We hired one of the private rooms of El Velodromo for a 30th birthday we were about 28 people. our contact person was Nuria, we have been talking to her for 2 weeks back and forth and explaining everything we wanted. She was not so responsive and every time we sent an email to her to get a response we had to call her back to remind her that she needed to reply to us so we could confirm the reservation. We agreed on a menu for 28 people, she said there would be people to serve the food, clean the place and help us and around 22.30 they were supposed to clean the tables and put the long tables for cocktails and the DJ was going to take a place, it turned out to 2 ladies who had no idea about the service, (i bet 1st time serving something) they were too slow, they couldn't manage to clean the tables it was around 23.30 and there were still no cocktail tables, dinner was late, since they were too slow we all helped them to take out the tables, Dj was supposed to connect their speakers, however as they promised the cables were not working, we couldn't connect the speakers, they dropped down the volume of the music and they said we could only play from iPad where as our agreement was bringing a DJ there. so there was absolutely no music, I asked for help from downstairs from other waiters, and they said they could not do anything there was nothing to do. it turned out a waste of money type of event cause there was no music, the food was too late, the cocktail tables were not set, Dj couldn't connect to the speakers. If you are planning your birthday party with your special guests, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PLACE. Nuria was not an easy person to talk with, waiters had no idea what was going on in the private room so they could not help and the ladies who were supposed to serve us was absolutely no idea how to serve, I don´t recommend this place, and very sad that nothing has been delivered as it...
