Honestly, this place was the very best restaurant of my stay in Barcelona, actually it might be the best I have ever visited in Spain so far. They not only had great ingredients but also used it carefully and thoroughly to make the best out of it. Scallops were cooked on point, pork loin was grilled just right, cod was cooked just right. All these things were signs that the chef does really know when these ingredients taste the best. We also had braised beef cheek which i thought was not mind blowing but i have to admit its quite hard to blow your mind with beef cheek and mashed potatoe i think. It was still really good. My steak was cook just on point i loved it, it was cooked perfect. I especially enjoyed the pork loins i think it was my favorite dish because it was so savory and the meat was not undercooked and was so tender. It was such a simple dish which tasted so good and exactly this made me like this dish a lot. I would have preferred having the tataki a little more cooked just because this part of the meat contains fair amount of fat and this fat would do its job much better when cooked medium to med rare rather than blue rare. But it still tasted amazingly good. All the desserts were great, dont miss out on the chocolate cake, another simple but good dish which many places fail to offer. On top of all these great things, the service was top class. Super friendly and attentive, when you needed anything you had someone by your side under 10 seconds which is amazing when you actually think about it. I cant factually describe why i felt so good there but genrally i felt their work came across as very genuinely done, which is rare to find at a restaurant in a touristic city like barcelona. It had a good list of wine, just unfortunately i am not so good with spanish wine to make any judgment on their wine list. But they seemed to have a great diversified wine menu. I have been to a lot of places in Spain and numerous times in Barcelona but this place has really become as the only place so far I would like to remember and return when i am in...
Read moreAs we finished our trip in Barcelona, we visited Bicos after multiple recommendations. We were greeted by a friendly staff member and were excited for the experience. When we sat down at the table, we were met my a different server. It was obvious that Marta was immediately frustrated that we were there and indecisive. Instead of providing guidance she walked away in annoyance. We asked for recommendations to which she quickly rattled off a couple of options, again annoyed. We ordered starters and were ready to order mains but she walked off before we could complete our order. As we tired to make eye contact with her multiple times during our appetizers, she did not visit our table again until we were all complete. We told her we were ready to order our mains and she informed us that the kitchen was closed and only desserts were available. Even with 5 minutes to spare based on the hours of the kitchen. She then never visited our table again, and instead changed clothes, ate dinner at the bar, and left before we were even finished. Clearly her scheduled was more important than our experience. Instead of leaving Barcelona on a high note, we left hungry, and disappointed. The restaurant itself was beautiful, and I think we would have had a much different experiences given a different server. Those going, I recommend the earlier seating time so you are given the...
Read moreAs a first-timer in Barcelona, I'm very glad I found this place. Now I must preface that we were told that a reservation is advised, as the open hours are very limited. But man, this restaurant is worth every penny, and it's not even expensive!
First - the staff. The staff were very kind, made good conversation and actively engaged with us and other guests. Love to see it!
Second - the restaurant itself. It's pretty small, with not that much seating available. However, this reinforces the cozy nature of the establishment and encourages conversation. Excellent design choice!
Last - the food. I have to give my compliments to whoever was in the kitchen, because you just served me the best carpaccio I ever had. The beer was light and tasteful, and really helped cool me down on a hot day. And the rice pudding with caramelised sugar and vanilla ice cream was delicious too, it really hits the spot when temperatures outside soar up.
All in all, this was a fantastic culinary introduction to Barcelona, and I'll absolutely be returning...
