The only thing this place lacks is the greek flag 🇬🇷, as it is, it's like the best consulate for Greece, for her food and products. I don't know if there exists another shop of this kind in Barcelona, I do have done my research and this is the only one I found. Of course, now and then one discovers in the Spanish supermarkets some isolated greek products, some yoghurts, feta cheese, some tzatziki, olives and there even are pitas in a stand in the Boqueria. But in Furnos one finds everything together. Furnos means bakery in greek, but this one, is more than that. You can find on sale in the shop the original imported yoghurts, not the 'estilo griego' ones sold in Spain and if you try them, you too will understand the difference between the 'estilo' ones and the real thing. I have tried the various desserts, like baklava & kataifi, they are delicious, but be forewarned, they are very sweet, as we Greeks are sugar addicted. The pastries are similar to the best ones made in Greece. Apart from those calories bombs, there are other delicacies with less guilt involving. Above all, be sure to try the pita with spinach or feta cheese. It's a beloved greek speciality, very tasty and filling. You can see how they look like in the photo display here in the Google maps. Warmly...
Read moreI was lucky enough to find Furnos on a walk back to my hotel. The fresh bread and spanakopita caught my eye, so I entered the place to find Spyros behind the counter. What a kind and lovely man! Spyros is the owner of this awesome little Greek bakery and he speaks Spanish, English and of course Greek. He couldn't have been more proud or welcoming. We had a great and interesting conversation while he introduced me to his products.
Inside the shop you'll find some hand picked products that he imports directly from Greece. A few choices of wine, olives, cheese, yogurt, dolmas, etc. But the main offering was the fresh baked breads and selection of savory and sweet pastries. I purchased a slice of spanakopita (spinach and feta pie) and a galaktoboureko (milk boureka with honey syrup). Both were amazing and the galaktoboureko, which Spyros insisted I try... well it just about made my mouth explode in happiness! If you've never tasted this delicious Greek sweet, you seriously MUST stop here to get one. I've traveled in Greece and can say that this is about the best you will buy outside of the Galyfianakis shop in Athens.
If you're around Poblenou area, I seriously recommend you to stop into Furnos and treat yourself to a pastry (and maybe a nice conversation...

If I hadn’t taste their products I wouldn’t believe it !! They produce most of their “pitas” by themselves.
Every bite would take me closer to Greece !!
Wonderful “tyropita” (cheese pie), and special spanakopita (Spinach pie). I was impressed with their pita with cheese, olives and tomato. Not to forget “Koulouri Thessalonikis”, so simple but so tasteful.
For those going to the beach don't forget to buy some "Κριτσίνια" (Kristina), they are awesome.
I really hope the next time I will visit them they will have bougatsa (pita with cream).
You can also find many Greek products like Greek Olives, Greek Peloponnesian Honey, Ouzo, Greek Tahini and many others.
And to all my Greek fellows here you can also find “Freddo Espresso” (cold espresso).
To all my Spanish’s friends, give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
I really wish we had a “Furno” like this...
