09/2019: It hurts my heart to say this place, which I dreamed of returning to, has gone way down hill. Being someone who eats the same amount of food as 3 regular humans, I specifically asked the waitress that my food was served slowly so it didn't go cold on the table. The request was ignored by the chef, and plates were pilled on the table, reason why I had to leave half an uramaki and ate cold tempuras. The quality of the food has also gone downhill, with the previously beautiful sushi now being flavourless, the tempura being poorly fried and greasy, and the main dishes, overly salty. While it's not terrible, I will no longer recommend this place, and the prices, while justified last year, were ridiculous for the quality of the food. A real shame.

09/2018: Summary: You would be insane to miss this place.

Spec-tacular, and even splitting the word is not enough to describe how pleasant of an experience this place was. Having been to Japan, most Japanese cuisine restaurants would taste like nothing. This is a whole other story though.

The fish used for the sushi was remarkably fresh, the tempura was fried to perfection and I could go on about every single dish.

The venue is smallish, but it makes it cozy and gives it an amazing atmosphere. The staff, which I had the pleasure of interacting with extensively since I went alone and sat at the bar, put the cherry on the cake that was the whole experience with their friendliness and good recommendations.

Definitely the best Japanese food I've had in a...

I had high hopes from the great reviews here, but I think we caught them on an 'off night' since it was a disappointing experience from the beginning.

Our hostess was really rude and seemed to be annoyed we were there when we were being seated (arrived at the beginning of dinner time; ~7:30-8:00pm). My partner and I speak minimal Spanish and enjoy travelling around Spain with no issues until this restaurant....our server seemed to be...angry? about our language barrier despite us trying our best.

We ordered 6 things. Our first two rolls came without wasabi and ginger on the side (apparently you need to ask?). Two items were ordered were forgotten and our new server (I guess our original hostess left for the day or moved to different tables) seemed indifferent that they were missed. These things happen, and it's not a huge deal, but any amount of empathy would be appreciated as we're spending good money to dine here.

The food was really good, but it's still enough to equate for the bad service and rude staff. We still enjoyed our meal and had a nice time together (it was our last dinner out before leaving Barcelona) but overall a...

This restaurant was my first sushi experience in Barcelona. I was pleasantly surprised.

I must say the food was delicious. One thing I HAVE to recommend is the wakame salad. It's fresh and honestly the best I have ever had. Udon noodles were very tasty. And the Sushi rolls as well. At the back of the restaurant there is a big table in a very aesthetic style that can probably be booked for big groups and is in a more private space. The restaurant in general has a nice, calm atmosphere with very dim light.

For Barcelona prices I do consider this restaurant more expensive than the rest. Since also the portions are not so big.

I recommend ordering a variety of things and trying all the things they offer, as all dishes are very special...

So as many have pointed out the hiragana is not even correct “kabuki” is how it’s spelt. This should’ve been the first red flag under the aged wood facade that is kibuka Goya. The fish was so far from fresh I thought they were all dry aged. If I made rice this bad for my grandmother she would have taken my inheritance and thrown it asunder into the south Japan sea. I did not get sick so it is technically edible. That is probably the only positive I can say for this place. The fact that it is rated 4.4 is a testament to the desolate and austere landscape that is sushi in Barcelona
