La Picantería de l'Escribà in Barcelona is bringing some of the most amazing Peruvian delights to Barcelona, located between Poble Nou and Selva de Mar. The restaurant is spacious and cozy at the same time, the decor brings out the Latin summer vibes.
The restaurant a weekly menu for lunch and a la carte as well. I dined here on two separate occasions and was super impressed by the quality and flavor of the food. The Bluefin Tuna Nigiri was spectacular, a BOMB of flavor and the tuna literally melts in the mouth. It was definitely one of best Nigiri I had in Barcelona and it really surprised me. The Grilled Pork with Peruvian bbq sauce and quinoa was amazing, the home BBQ rub on the pork was phenomenal, sweet and tangy at the same time. The pork was cooked perfectly and went well with the quinoa. The Iberico Frito was delicate and juicy in the inside while the tempura was cooked to perfection. The side of Salsa helped cut through the fattiness of the pork and bring some refreshing citrus flavor. Lastly, the Picanha in red wine reduction with Spaghetti in bechamel sauce was to die for. The Picanha was cooked perfectly, medium rare with silky red win reduction that paired perfectly with the spaghetti, a FLAVOR EXPLOSION!
I would also recommend the Brownie Cheesecake which a sweet lover´s delight. The service deserves a special mention as they are super nice and happy to help. Keep in mind it takes, 1.5-2h for the lunch so be prepared to enjoy your food and not...
Read moreWe arrived around 8.15, the idea is great. All day brunch, we were all very hungry so in theory. Solid choice.
We ordered, I went for chicken and waffles, the most expensive thing on the menu and had high hopes.
My girlfriend a chicken burger and finally her friend a breakfast burrito.
The meals all arrived apart from each other, mine first, so far ahead i'd finished before theirs hit the table, followed by the burger and some 5 mins later the burrito.
To break it down, my waffle was soggy, a fresh waffle would be crispy, so this was for sure reheated, which is quite disappointing considering the cooking time involved for a waffle.
The solo drum stick was one of the smallest and old looking pieces of fried chicken i'd ever seen. It was honestly mind blowing you'd charge 13e for that plate. I was so hungry I just kept quiet and ate it.
If though your restaurant is going to do just brunch, at least do it well. The prices aren't cheap, it was very disappointing.
Similarly my girlfriend said her burger was not great and the feedback from the burrito was it was 6/10.
We paid roughly 35e for food that we ate based on hunger alone. Even a few days after we spoke and suggested we had chosen poorly given the wealth of good options...

I'm giving them massive benefit of the doubt because I think it used to be very good and the stressed-out staff were actually nice, in-between periods of arguing amongst themselves.
Someone has clearly messed up here. The quality, portions, everything about the food is evidently very very good, but it feels like it's falling apart...
They seem to take a load of delivery and Glovo orders - and it looks like they simply don't have any capacity for this & have overshot it and the restaurant is really suffering.
Everyone there seems to be doing everything at once rather than running a line. My lomo arrived raw (not rare) and I sent it back and it came back burnt to a crisp.
Saying all of this, again, they were all nice and I have a lot of sympathy for staff put in a bad situation by an owner (I assume). I can see it's stressful for the staff so I hope the owner hires more people, as it is potentially great, but it feels like it will explode if they don't sort it...
