I’ve eaten three times at Mussol during my stay in Barcelona. The first time was based on a recommendation of staff at the Hotel Granvia. The second and third times were based on my favorable experiences. During my dinning experience at Mussol I have
The first thing you notice is how helpful the Mussol staff is in making your dining experience enjoyable. Their menu is in Spanish and on the back of the menu is a QR code to take you to the English translation of the menu. The staff takes time in guiding you through the menu and assists with their recommendations. During my dining experiences I’ve relied on the staff recommendations and have had three different entries and three different desserts. Don’t ask me my favorite because they are like your children they are all unique and delightful. The only consistency is I’ve had their wonderful tomato salad with grilled Tuna belly. The food has been excellent and beautifully plated.
If you dine after 8:00 pm make a reservation because I observed them turning away walk-in’s on a busy Friday and Monday night. If you are an early diner (before 8:00 pm) make a reservation so you will be seated in the main dining room in the back of the restaurant. The back dining room is nice, restful, and close to the action in the kitchen.

Read moreI mean, I am Catalan, I’ve been fed Catalan food throughout my thirty-two years of life, so I’m not sure whether to be extremely critical or take it easy.
I guess I’ll just be fair and write an honest review, as trully, no restaurant can ever equal a mother’s cooking.
As for true Catalan food, I’d say you get an approximate taste. Some flavours are there, somewhat close to the original ones, but overall it’s just a meek reflection of what proper Catalan food tastes like.
The pa amb tomàquet was no longer crunchy. If you toast the bread, make sure it’s not soft, otherwise the magic is gone.
The buñuelos de bacalao were rather small compared to what a proper buñuelo should be, and the flavour was far from the sea. The allioli on them, though, was quite tasty.
The escalivada was a very sad dish and horribly presented—just small portions of half vegetables spread on a big plate. Not a Catalan taste at all.
I won’t continue dish by dish, because the reviews would repeat. The presentation of some dishes could have been more elaborate. Considering how much effort went into the restaurant’s atmosphere, they would benefit from a larger variety of plates.
Flavours are mild and not very Catalan-tasting. The names are the same, and the looks somewhat as well. If you’re fine with that, then it’s not a bad place to eat. Also, it’s not...
Read moreFood was decent, but a little bland. First time we had to use salt on any food during our trip to Barcelona. I got lamb chops which were excellent! 5 little ribs that were so tender and juicy, no gamey flavor at all. Also got an order of olives which were large, but not amazing. As was the mushrooms with white sausage a tiny pieces of spinach. Had the anchovies over potato chips which were very small and plain. Just 2 strips of anchovies that tasted average from a can. I honestly almost wanted to give them 4 stars, but the service was horrible. We ordered all these dishes and they gave us no plates. except what the food was served on. Took awhile to get the server back over to ask for 3 small plates. She came back with only 1 for our 3 year old. She was gone so fast, couldn't ask for the others, and our child had no silverware. Never asked if we needed anything else, dessert or more drinks. Granted we caught them with an hour and a half to close on a Sunday night. I can say they were some great lamb chops and prices were...
