Zara — Local services in Barcelona

I have never experienced such blatant racism as I have at this location. I visited in September 7th and purchased a number of items for about 300 euro. I was stopped by security bc the sales girl forgot to remove the tag and ring a 7 euro shirt. The security guards were rude and hostile. One pretended he could not speak English and told the other he understood me but to continue to translate. The security guards then essentially accused me of stealing and told me loudly if you don’t pay you don’t take. This was after they individually removed each item from my bag and wrinkled them. At the cash register I requested for the item to be added to my original receipt and was told that wasn’t possible. After questioning it was added by another sales person, I believe her name was Bertha—however it did not increase the VAT refund—so it was not properly added. When I left the store the bag tore because of the security haphazardly handling the items. I had to return to request another bag. No apologies were offered. I had to rebag my own items which were now creased and balled up. I asked where to throw out the bag that they tore and the two security guards at the door laughed at me and told me I had to throw it outside although it was their store’s bag. Completely nonsensical and dehumanizing. I will not return and I hope corporate highlights the importance of treating all customers of all races with dignity...

I had a terrible experience at this Zara store in Barcelona. I picked up a jacket that had fallen on the floor and placed it back on the rack, just trying to be helpful. Then, out of nowhere, a male staff member came over and aggressively accused me of taking the jacket into the fitting room and returning it to the wrong section — which I absolutely did NOT do.

He raised his voice at me in front of other customers, completely disrespecting and embarrassing me over something I didn’t even do. I was just trying to be kind, and instead I got shouted at and treated like I was causing problems.

To make things worse, I couldn’t help but feel there was an element of racism in the way I was singled out and spoken to. It’s deeply upsetting and unacceptable.

Zara should seriously retrain its staff on how to treat people with basic respect and fairness. I...

I was trying on clothes on top of mine in front of the mirror and she told me that I have to use the fitting room and “trying clothes is FORBIDDEN here” (interesting, in a store full of mirrors). I told her it’s just this one piece, but she goes on and on. I had already put the clothes on, so I planed to focus on my look for 5 seconds so I can quickly take it off and stop all this. There she told me to GET OUT of the store. I walked away trying to de-escalate the situation. But she followed me and said “WHEN I say get out, it means you GET OUT!!” Then she told another staff to say “GET OUT” to me again, in my face.
