**Pez Vela Chiringuito - Barcelona: A Coastal Gem** Pez Vela Chiringuito, located at the foot of the iconic W Hotel in Barcelona, offers a dining experience that is equal parts beachy charm and Mediterranean sophistication. With a prime beachfront location, this trendy eatery captures the essence of Barcelona’s vibrant seaside atmosphere, making it a go-to spot for both locals and tourists. **Ambiance** The first thing you’ll notice is the stunning setting. The restaurant offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean, and whether you're seated on the outdoor terrace or inside, the ambiance is effortlessly chic. The relaxed, beach-club vibe perfectly complements the sound of the waves and the warm, sea breeze. It’s the kind of place where you can sit for hours, sipping on cocktails and soaking in the atmosphere. **Food & Drinks** Pez Vela specializes in traditional Catalan and Mediterranean fare with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients. Their **paella** is undoubtedly the star of the menu, cooked to perfection with generous portions of seafood and a rich, flavorful broth. In addition to their signature rice dishes, the menu offers a selection of grilled fish, fresh salads, and tapas that pair wonderfully with their wine list. The seafood is impeccably fresh, and the flavors are vibrant without being overly complicated. The drink menu is equally impressive, with a solid selection of local wines, refreshing sangria, and creative cocktails. Whether you’re there for a casual lunch or a romantic dinner, their extensive beverage options ensure you’ll have the perfect pairing for your meal. **Service** While the food and setting are outstanding, the service can be hit or miss. On busy days, the wait staff can seem slightly overwhelmed, leading to slower service. However, they are generally attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu when things are running smoothly. It’s best to go with a relaxed attitude, as the pace can vary. **Overall Experience** Pez Vela is more than just a place to eat – it’s an experience. With breathtaking views, delicious Mediterranean cuisine, and a laid-back yet elegant atmosphere, it’s a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy Barcelona’s beachfront dining scene. While it can get busy and service may slow down during peak hours, the setting and food more than make up for it. Perfect for a sunset meal with friends or a romantic dinner by the sea, Pez Vela delivers an unforgettable coastal dining experience.

Referred by our hotel, we were eager to visit. Easily accessible at the beach area near the port. We took a taxi and noticed there were many there and available for departure. We chose to eat outside, due to the relaxing vibes and green atmosphere outdoors. Comfortable seating, the lighting makes the ambiance a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the night. The heaters were a plus because it was 65 degrees (April) and we are use to warm weather! It was a delightful atmosphere until a large party was seated outside next to the 2 seater section and their party was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. Large parties should not be seated near smaller, 2 seater tables (near windows). We started eating outside before moving indoors for coffee. The tomatoes on toast were delicious, fresh. Lobster balls were very tasty, delicious! We wanted to try the paella. We're from the U.S. Of course, we have tried different types but this was supposed to be one of THE best. Well, it was mediocre; gooey/mushy and a bit salty. It arrived hot and steamy but too much water which allowed it to continue cooking in the pan made it gooey. Service was good. Our waiter disappeared for a good portion of time however we were helped by 2 other waitresses. All of our needs were met and staff came several times to see if we were happy and needed anything. We noticed they all started working together outdoors, to remove cushions, when it started to rain. Everyone pitched in. That was good to see. We enjoyed the low key, relaxed environment indoors. Soft lighting. It was an easy transition from dinner to coffee as the restaurant has different kinds of seating for the need (terrace/patio, inside lounge/networking area near the fire area, booth seating for coziness and table seating. Magazines and a basket of blankets/throws are also available for guests to use. That was a unique experience. Overall, we would visit again.

It is hard to beat the view from this restaurant, a beautiful beach and ocean breeze. The food was amazing and a variety of Catalan dishes, primarily involving seafood, but there were other options and our group decided to do some tapas and shared paella. The Jamón Ibérico was good. The lobster croquettes were okay. The patates frittta had a paste that I was told would be spicy, but it really was not. The tomato and goat cheese salad was fresh. The mussels were good. The lemon pie had a line layer of lemon filling, it was mostly crust and merengue. The was the so so part of the dinner. Here were the stars. The octopus was grilled and smoky. I have had octopus, primarily fried or in some sort for fruit of the sea dish. This preparation was to die for. So delicious, meaty and flavorful. Not chewy or flavorless at all. I wish I could have had more. The rice dishes were excellent. The black rice with cuttlefish and artichoke hearts was good. They brought some garlic aioli to the table, and it was suggested I mix it in. Wow! I took a good dish to the next level. The sausage, mushroom, and asparagus rice was even better, especially on its own with no flavor assist from the aioli. Overall, a wonderful experience at Peix Vela. I would highly recommend it for food and atmosphere.

Being greeted as „He Guys by (Claire who was the manager)“ it was 22:00 and she said I am closing outside even there wer guest sitting eating and drinking no smiling or any kind of professionalism just very rude and straight. We went inside and she places us next to the kitchen where every service staff was passing by and one of them „Alejandro“ hit my chair and was moving around with a very aggressive vibe. FYI the restaurant was half full we were waiting 20 Minutes for someone who can at least get us something to drink. But Alejandro and Claire were laughing with the kitchen team and chatting while we were waiting. I still gave them the chance to prove them wrong but then I looked at our table. the fork, the knife and the plate were still dirty look at the pictures. At the end we just standed up and started to leaving but they looked at us and didnt say anything. TO all the Guest from the W Hotel please don’t visit this place if you want to have a nice lunch/dinner. According to other guest reviews this two people who were mentioned in this review are RUDE and dort care about anything. Not Professional at all.

Overall we enjoyed our meal at Peix Vela. The location is wonderful overlooking the beaches of Barcelona. The first round of dishes ordered were amazing. No complaints about them at all. The seafood (scallops and mussels) were fresh and tasty. The chicken was very moist and tender. The spicy potatoes was my favourite version that I tried in Spain. However, when we enquired about the size of the paella we were left assuming it would be just enough to make us all full. Upon asking about the size we were not consulted properly and therefore overwhelmed when it arrived. The paella itself was too salty and was not pleasant to finish. The waiter also took away the empty water and did not return it for the remainder of the meal. The two Aperol spritz ordered before the food failed to be made and after reminding the staff no apologies came from the waiter that took our order. Although the beginning dishes of our meal were perfect (see pictures) the overall service and experience was sub par. I would return to give this restaurant another go because I believe our experience was not a reflection of the whole establishment.
