Popeyes Famous Louisiana Chicken — Restaurant in Barcelona

Well..Drake’s First Hit was ‘the best I ever had’ and this was the Polar Opposite. The worst I’ve ever Had. Popeyes has failed me once again. This Time in Barcelona and when I say bad I mean inedible. I know what you’re saying. Why would I even bother with a fast food jawn in the land of tapas and tasty everything? Because I craved some Spicy Chicken and sides. Popeyes isn’t available in my hood. So I walked into a somewhat sleazy looking jawn. With somewhat unkept staff and wanted to order some Spicy Pieces BUT was told they have NO SPICY? And won’t have ANY SPICY anytime soon. Shocked and Dismayed I asked are you sure there’s NO SPICY? So I was left to order the original since I took a 20 Minute Subway ride to this jawn. And what I received should be illegal. So OLD and OVERCOOKED was this chicken it wouldn’t Been fed to Farm Animals. I mean to stand and tell me that this chicken is okay is an Outrage to say the least. I was going to let this go but the staff refused a refund and tried to tell me the chicken was satisfactory. In other words ‘They Want All the Smoke‘ well here it is. Popeyes worldwide is a DISASTER. There is one or two in Airports that are just okay. But anywhere else I’ve had them the quality is well BELOW PAR. ATROCIOUS. and the staff unsatisfactory! the pictures...

Is it worth 4 stars? For what it is, sure. When I moved to BCN, one thing I thought I'd never have again was Popeye's. I was pleasantly surprised. What I liked? The chicken was spot on. The spicy fried chicken was exactly what I remembered - just perfect. The cajun fries were good, too. What I didn't like as much: I wasn't given a choice of white vs dark meat - maybe that's not at thing here. The picture on the menu was dark meat but I got light meat, which is what I like anyway. I don't know if I got lucky, or what. The biscuit - it was good but wasn't very biscuit-y. It was like halfway between a roll and a biscuit - I don't think biscuits are big here (meaning the American definition of "biscuit"). It was good, but not what I remembered, not as flaky/crumbly. They also don't have some of the Popeye's things that I love, like red beans and rice.

In terms of food quality, in reality, it's probably just 3 stars - which for fast food is pretty good. But in terms of finding something like this in BCN, it's a treasure. If you want some good American style fried chicken with some pretty good sides, this is a good place. It's a taste of home. I know...

I ordered 3pcs large classic chicken today but it came with what it looks like a medium one. I knew it as I'm a regular costumer and always pick the large menu. I asked the attention of the server if its large and he said variadas. I wanted to change the leg and the small wing to a larger part as I touched the bigger portion to make them understand that it is supposed to be the one I'm pointing at. They said they can't change as I already touched it. What I was explaining them was the two small portions should be replaced but they insist that I touched it. (Yes, the one I would like yo retain.)
