Hi folks. My wife and I came here for diner around 10:30pm as it is beautifully located next to the cathedral. Initially, we requested to be sat outside in their patio area since it has nice backdrop of cathedral. Just minutes later, it started pouring. By then, we had already placed our dinner order of vegetarian paella and a red xina xana wine. One thing to note that their prices for outside dining are higher than inside. Vegetarian paella was 16 Eur inside / 19,20 outside. Wine was listed as 3,50 on the outside menu. The server got my wine first. Just then, i asked to be seated inside and they were fine. So, we moved in right then without even sipping any wine yet. After we moved in, we enjoyed our time for few minutes while eating our paella and sippimg the wine. The food was good. That's when incidents started happening. It was 11:30 and the closing time as per tripadvisor and google is 1am. A staff member came to us while we were eating and rudely said that we need to be done and leave within 15 min. My guess they were trying to get customers to leave since it was pouring cats and dogs and they had already started wrapping up. If this was not enough, the same guy went out and asks some folks who were standing under the shade to leave. How rude is that now?? Why do you care it they stand for sometime and try to save themselves from the pouring rain. Finally, the incident happened at my table. When they got the cheque, the paella was billed at 19,20 and wine was billed at 4,20. I asked the waitress to adjust the price since we actually moved in well before our dining had started. She took the bill to the girl behind the counter. The girl started arguing with the server and making faces looking at my wife. I got the revised bill and i see that while they adjusted the paella price, the wine was still not adjusted. I called the server again and pointed that out to her. She took my complaint to the manager. Shen then comes back to me and says that they will not adjust. So, in response I said, i won't pay until i speak with the manager. Then there was a silence of 10 min and the manager was standing few steps away but didn't have the decency to come and talk. Then, i called for the manager again and walla.. the guy comes to me and starts giving me attitude as if, I've committed a crime by requesting them to rectify the price to reflect the right amount. His argument was that since the wine was served to me outside, even though i came in to consume it, that's why the higher charge. He was not willing to hear me out and i literally lost it. My wife tried to calm me. So, i just paid the higher price and we left. Later, i realized that i should have asked the guy to show me the menu again so i could prove to him the wine price was indeed 3,50 in the outside menu. Sorry for the long review but i honestly want to try to inform all you people who hope to have a beautiful time in this beautiful city to THINK TWICE before...
Read moreMy wife and I really enjoyed dining at this restaurant several times during our trip to Barcelona in April 2023. First of all it was near our hotel so it was extremely convenient. It was open quite late so that worked well for us, we were able to get meal around 10 pm after a flamenco show. They had great out door seating. The waiters were very friendly and efficient with their service and they were very helpful in getting you seated promptly as well. The food and drinks were delicious and reasonably priced so it was overall a great value. We had patatas bravos, grilled octopus, shrimp aioli, Spanish tortilla, croquetes, crystal bread, beer, wine, vermouth and a Manhattan cocktail there over the course of several visits ton the restaurant. We also don't like restaurants with loud music, so it was great that there was no music in the outside dining area. There was music playing inside the restaurant, which would probably be acceptable to most. If your hotel is neat the Barcelona Cathedral, this is the place to...
Read moreTried this place yesterday and was not impressed with the female waitress who, when asked if the 2nd glass of wine was the same as the original, indignantly brought out the bottle to show me. My original was Sauvignon Blanc - the bottle brought out was Rose. Appears she mixed her tables up. We had a potato omelette, which was very oily. However, decided to give it a 2nd try today, as my husband enjoyed the Estrella Damm there yesterday. Had the misfortune to be served by one of the rudest people I have ever encountered in customer service. My husband wanted an Estrella Damm again, but inadvertently pointed to the required size but the wrong Beer. Rather than clarify, he brought two glasses of beer, of different kinds, for one person. When the 2nd was Identified as a mistaken order, he took it back with distain. So rude. The patatas bravas we ordered were delivered instantly and swimming in oil -disgusting. Sorry but thus wasn't a good experience either day with either customer service or...
