I had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while based on recommendations and seeing it a few times in passing.

Covid regulations are not followed - I was not asked to show my Covid certificate.

Staff are rude and forgot our order more than once. We waited 20+ minutes for a drink that we had to order twice, we only ordered 4 dishes and one was forgotten and one dish was incorrect (we ordered very clearly in castellano).

The hand pulled noodles are good, however they are identical in quality and taste to those of most of the other Chinese restaurants in the area and here is a bit more expensive.

Unfortunately, there was some suspicious meat in the noodles that resembled intestines which I’m assuming was a mistake. It wasn’t a huge issue for me but it shows a lack of hygiene and standards the fact that things are accidentally getting mixed. I have never experienced this in a Chinese restaurant in Barcelona before so it was disappointing.

Based on the poor service, average quality and slightly higher than average prices compared to other restaurants in the area, I would not return. Although the restaurant is pretty inside, there are many other good options for the same quality food.

On a side note, the menu had many funny English translation mistakes which made waiting so long for a drink a bit more amusing as we had a laugh...

The food is worth 5 starts!

The service though... I have been here twice now, both times the service was abysmal (for the lack of a kinder word).

First time, they brought my beer to the table, put it there unopened, with no glass to pour it in, and left without even looking me in the eye. I had the feeling this waitress was afraid of me almost.

I should not have to open my beer with my lighter and drink from the bottle when eating out.

Second time I was with a friend, we were going to share 2 dishes, but only one was brought out. We did not get charged for the missing dish, but they did charge us for double the beer.

The problem might be that the staff only speaks Chinese, but normally this is no problem for me, I can communicate fine in these situations.

It really seems like there was a lack of motivation, or even a lack of respect (maybe only for the Laowai guests though).

I will definitely come back -for the quality of the food-, but I am in no hurry, there are lots of other...

My wife is from China, this food is not. This is one of those way over-rated places. The service was so rude that when I asked politely (in Chinese) "may I please order?" the nasty waitress put out her hand in my face to stiff arm me, didn't say a word, and then kept walking. Really really rude and unnecessary. We asked for less oil and salt so it wouldn't be swimming in it and I don't think it changed a thing. None of the dishes are authentic but it is a good place to get a stomach ache. The only dish that was passable was the pork and chive fried dumplings but for some unknown reason the skin was partially green. Which is weird. As another example of weirdness, we ordered the lotus root and it was somehow breaded (which we've never seen) and bizarrely overly spiced to be almost inedible. It's overly priced and they seem to charge for everything little thing. Again, save your time, stomach, taste buds and wallet and go elsewhere. ...

Was looking for a ramen place and Google suggested this, and they had 4+ stars so I gave it a try. I asked the lady at the front if they have ramen, she said yes, but it’s not on the menu. Red flag but we still went inside as we were walking too much already looking for a ramen house that won’t disappoint :( She gave the menu and again she said it’s not there on the menu but they have beef, chicken, or pork ramen, that’s it. Chose beef and chicken. When it arrived, waiter said “sopa de tallarines”, basically noodle soup. Check photos. Chicken where??? Chicken left the chat. Also no other ingredients claiming it’s ramen? In what world? Pak choi for ramen? Pak choi only? They didn’t even bother throwing egg or something. Miscommunication between front staff and kitchen, for sure. But please next time, don’t try to claim to have what the customers want if you’re not gonna deliver. Receipt also indicates sopa de tallarines.

I was looking forward to some good Sichuan food but my experience at Yue Lai was mixed. On one hand, the dishes are freshly prepared and nicely presented but taste and flavor are missing. I ordered the spicy battered fried chicken, came out dry with no sauce, just some lightly sauteed onions and dry chili flakes. I also ordered the eggplant with spicy brown sauce, came out heavy on vinegar, very sour tasting. Portions are generous, enough for 2 people, but they charge accordingly. For example, a bowl of rice is €1.65. Service is fast and efficient but short on information. I asked to take home my leftovers, the server said ok but neglected to say they charge extra, for 3 small plastic containers they added €1.50 (I've never been charged extra for take home elsewhere in BCN). Will not be returning here.
