Food and vermut are very good but the treatment is horrendeous. And Im not refering to the waiters' attitude which is fine but how this placeworks in general. They informed us we could stay on the terrace for one hour only - ok, we thought if we keep on ordering this will not apply. However, right after we had our food and wanted to order more drinks, they told us that our time was out and we needed to go. I guess it is desiged to maximise the profit, so whenever the food is eaten, it's time for somone else to come in to order. Also, the waiter told us we had to go inside to pay which is quite weird so I had a feeling they do it to keep track of the tips... Finally, they didn't let us pay seperately so we had to later go through the hassle of transferring money between us (which sucks if you're there with your friends who live in other counties). In general it felt very unwelcoming and the profit is the only thing the owner care...
Read moreThis corner tapas restaurant is right near our apartment and every time we walk by, it is BUSY! Today we decided to see what the hype is all about.
Upon walking in, we found a table with stools. There is a chalkboard menu posted on the wall and specials posted on other walls of the restaurant.
The server came and gave us a stand with a number. We ordered: Bomba - aka massive ball croquette with some sort of meat, potato with sauce. Amazing! Patatas Bravas - perfect if you like a little hot spice Morro - Deep fries pork - tastes like chicharron Mini Croquette plate - supposed to be 5 pieces but we were lucky and got 6 (mushroom, fish, cheese) Calamari croquette and shrimp and merluza croquette. One of the croquettes was still cold in the middle.
These are great prices. I didn’t see a special lunch menu. After you’re finished, take your number up to the cashier and pay your tab there. They accept...
Read moreSenyor Vermut is well known for their tapas, especially for their bravas and the "bomba" (meatball)...and yes, both are worth the visit.
Their bravas are the ones I love: potatoes are tender inside and crispy outside, the source are split in two, an alli-i-oli one and a red spicy one. All good, all great... Definitely with in the top 5 in Barcelona -close the very top ;-) -.
Beyond bravas they do also have an extensive variety of meat tapas, fish tapas and some salads.
This place is quite small and tends to be crowded, so don't expect to sit down and stay for hours...it is actually the opposite: go there for a light&fast meal or as the first stop for a tapas-tour night ;-)
Totally recommended.
