Can ice cream be blue? 🔵 My son would answer: "Of course! And that's what I would order!" 👍 I would answer: "Absolutely not." 👎 In fact, if there's blue cream at a parlour, I won't visit it. ✋ The other night, we were coming back from dinner and I promised my son gelato. It was kinda raining so it had to be on our way back home and I found Sweet'n Ice on Maps. Not only was it on our way, but they had a 5-star rating! 🤩 Unfortunately, when we got there, I saw they sold blue cream. Hadn't it been for my son, I would have left. But how could I say no to him after I promised? 🤷 So he ordered the blue one 😓 and I ordered something decent (hazelnut and Lotus). Both flavors were kinda weak. It was a good thing in the case of the Lotus flavor, as Lotus can be too strong. But in the case of hazelnut, the cream tasted somewhat "watery", even though the hazelnut chunks almost saved the day. The waffle was not too good, unfortunately. It turns out the blue flavor was white chocolate 🍫, and a pretty decent one. 🙏 The clerk was very nice and he made an effort to talk to me in Catalan even though that was not his native language. 🫶 I paid €4.2 for 2x2 tiny scoops, which seems pretty standard for BCN (gelato is getting really expensive here). That was an ok experience, but given the rating, I expected way more.

Read moreHave you ever seen a 5.0 review and thought it couldn't really be that good? This really was that good. The owner was super friendly, spoke multiple languages fluently, and the gelato was possibly the best I have ever had. We make a point of trying to find the best gelato whenever we visit a city. I have had dozens of different places from Italy and across europe over the last several years and I am pretty sure this was the best gelato ibhave ever had. The flavors were intense, but not overpowering. Each of the flavors we had were perfectly balanced. The Sicilian limone was as good as the best I have had in Sicily. The Blood orange was phenomenal. Both would be perfect on a hot day. The Lavender tasted like smelling lavender. Directly. It was by far the best lavender gelato I've ever had. On top of the amazing product, the friendly service, answering questions, offering samples of any type you had questions about made this simply the best experience. I am going back before I leave town and recommend...
Read moreWe stopped here after soooooo much walking, wanting a lemon gelato (me) and whatever my Italian companion desired. I don’t know who helped us, but he accommodated our English, was warm and welcoming, and gave me a tasting tour of his lemon flavors—including something from the back freezer called yusu (a Japanese fruit that’s like mandarin and lemon)—which he recommended I combine with a spicy dark chocolate. I don’t know how to tell you how much presence and joy he brought to the whole exchange. It wasn’t over the top or cloying. He wanted me to have the best flavors… and I did, too. If I had more time to spend, I would want to be his friend. The gelato was divine and the experience was just exactly perfect for 10 minutes on a summer...
