Coming from Texas, the tacos were mid. Eating is such a hassle in this city. Had to wait outside like there a velvet rope until the servers want to come acknowledge you. Then it’s a matter of whether you speak Spanish or not if you’ll get a table. Shorter female server last night asked the couple in front of me if they spoke Spanish, quoted them a five minute wait. I was a solo American diner and she told me right after them they were too busy and had no tables for me. Told her I’d wait, she then quoted me an hour. When 4 tables left right after saying this she begrudgingly sat me, and told the other server she could wait on the “burracho” thinking I didn’t know she was calling me a drunk even though I just left Casa Batllo and not intoxicated. She took my order, then did nothing with it and made the other girl come back for my order again. The tamarind margarita seemed weak based on her rudely inaccurate assumption. Was looking for comfort food… something other than tapas. Again, the tacos are just mid, but the disrespectful service with an attitude sums up my experience of what the city generally thinks...
Read moreYou are hungry, it's a Tuesday and you are feeling like a Taco. Let's see what's on offer! Tacos should be order and immediately get. Like in the streets of Mexico. Tamarindo is a well kept place. Clean tidy and it has a good offer of tacos. Ordering is quite simple, yet staff don't seem to pay much attention. Divided in two sections, it would seem you've got to make sure you don't forget anything or else you'll be lost in Limbo for a while. This place exceeded my expectations. It has that street taco vibe and is cutely casual. The inside has a fair amount of seating even with Coronavirus distancing. I would recommend takeaway though. That might also be the only option right now.
I ordered three tacos: shrimp, fish and al pastor, along with Jarritos. Superb and no fuss with a touch of ooh la laa. The tortilla is corn, of course, and comes fully-loaded with toppings. Eat with your hands, if you’d like. I ended up using a fork since I lack the dexterity required to consume such a delicate, loaded vessel without making a gigantic mess.
A tip for this place: check out the menu of the day. I didn’t order it, but I saw another patron order soup/stew that looked and smelled enticingly mouthwatering.
Anyway, give this place a whirl, if a good taco is what...
