We were really looking forward to this meal and left feeling largely disappointed!
The service was appalling from the moment we were sent downstairs to be seated. We were left in the lurch, even after enquiring twice about where we should sit, and just kept being told to wait. During all of this, others were being seated and getting settled - our alarm bells went off at this point.
After being seated, it took almost half an hour to be asked what drinks we wanted, so we ended up just giving the waiter our whole order after all that time. As mentioned before, throughout this, other people were arriving and being asked for their drinks orders no more than 3 minutes after sitting down, which was really upsetting to see.
The starter was alright - my fiancé was okay with it but, for me, it tasted very similar to a salmon tartar I had recently eaten from a packet and bought at the supermarket. This was disappointing.
We went for the 60-day dry-aged Galician beef for the main, for which we waited yet another hour and 15 minutes for whilst others received their food. When it arrived, the meat was cooked really well for what I’d requested and tasted a lot more robust and strong than the average steak - the dry-aging was apparent in the flavour. The hot stone was a really fun touch - we loved cooking the meat and salting it to our taste on the grill! We chose the mashed potato as our accompaniment, which was a mistake, as it was like eating salty glue.
After our steaks, we couldn’t wait to just pay and get out of there as we couldn’t take another long waiting period for dessert whilst watching everyone else eat and enjoy.
Overall, this experience wasn’t worth it. Although the decor was pretty and the meat was full of flavour, the rest of the food was either average or below average, making it a waste for the price. The Steak House also seem to choose which clients they care about and which they don’t and then serve them accordingly - we pulled the short straw and were completely disregarded and treated as if we didn’t exist....
Read moreWe’ve been to The Steakhouse on Rambla de Catalunya a few times before and have always thoroughly enjoyed it, but our most recent visit fell short of expectations. While I’m basing this review on this particular experience, I’ll consider my previous visits in the final score.
This venue is part of the Soloh Group, which owns over 25 restaurants across Barcelona, seven of which are steakhouses. While each of the group’s steakhouses (including two La Selvas and the newly opened Maison Limousin) shares a similar style, The Steakhouse is the one closest to Plaza Catalunya, giving it an edge in terms of location and popularity.
Located just a stone’s throw from the city’s central plaza and La Rambla, this steakhouse has become an emblematic spot in the city. The jungle-inspired decor, neon lights, tables with swings for chairs, and a sea of aging steaks on display all contribute to a unique, standout vibe. It’s definitely a place that makes an impression.
On this visit, however, the service was unfortunately slow, lacking the usual enthusiasm and attention to detail we’ve come to expect. For example, on two separate occasions, the hot stone used to cook the meat arrived without the flame that’s meant to keep it hot, which was a bit of a letdown and had a negative impact on our dinner.
As for the steaks, the quality is undeniable and we’ve definitely enjoyed our previous visits. This time around, I had the aged entrecôte, which was cooked well, but it didn’t quite deliver the robust, aged flavor I was expecting. Perhaps just bad luck, but it was disappointing nonetheless.
In terms of prices, they are fair and in line with other similar steakhouses in the city, so you’re getting a decent meal for the cost.
Overall, it’s still a good place to enjoy a steak, but the subpar service this time around has left us hesitant to return anytime soon. We’ll likely give it another try in the future, but for now, this visit has slightly dampened...
Read moreWe were looking forward to our evening at the Steakhouse Barcelona. Unfortunately our expectations weren’t met by far. The Woman at the reception was nice and guided us directly to our table. The Restaurant itself is beautiful. At our table we got to know our waitress. She didn’t really talk to us and wasn’t smiling at all. The prices for the meals were adapted to new years eve but that’s normal I guess. What isn’t normal is that there were no sides available except french fries. My Brother asked for a small salad next to his Steak and got offered a starter salad for 16€. Sauces weren’t according to our waitress also not available. Another waiter told us that there was mushroom and pepper sauce aswell as free Ketchup and Mayonnaise available. We ordered no Starters. For main dish we had three different cuts, the Solomillo, the Entrecôte from the gallician cow aswell as the Entrava USA. Seemingly annoyed the waitress threw our napkins off the small plates when removing them from our Table. She also replaced our knives. The way she did it was like throwing garbage into the bin. We then asked for some Mayo and Ketchup to our fries. The sauces were delivered in two cups without any love. The Solomillo and the Entrecôte were solid, the Entrava was like a chewing gum. The fries on the side were cold by arrival. After we finished our meal we were instantly offered the dessert which we weren’t even thinking about two minutes after finishing our meal. When we declined them the waitress instantly came back with the bill and the card terminal. We weren’t asked for any more drinks our even if we already wanted to pay. So we left, without hearing a goodbye, thank you or any sign of...
