Vila Viniteca — Restaurant in Barcelona

Wonderful shop in the heart of Born with an amazing selection of products such cold meats cheeses pastas..... all the products are of the highest quality just really bad attitude from staff. Terrible service the gentleman that was in charge of selling the cheeses and cold meats was extremely unfriendly. When I entered with my girlfriend, we greeted him in Spanish without a response. I tried several times to get his attention to buy cheeses and cold cuts of meat but he ignored me for 10 mins. At which point I had to ask him twice, if I could help myself since it didn't seem he was inclined to. He responded tersely that no it is not self services and that he will serve me before once again proceeding to ignore me. Finally he deemed it a good time to serve us. Throughout the process he was extremely cold, rude and unfriendly. I selected different cheeses and some cold cuts for a total above 40 euros for our cheese and wine night and honestly despite the shop being amazing,the service was so bad, lacklustre and unfriendly I left very unsatisfied. I just don't understand why a place serving products of the highest quality with prices to match would employ a salesman who seemed to hate his job and could not provide minimal courtesies and actually enhance one's experience. Especially when considering that shops like this have the potential to be such a wonderful experience to which you would look forward to go weekly for a treat. Instead the experience was ruined, for myself and my partner. I will continue going to my local cheese shop Formatgeria Simó where the owners are far friendlier or to Santa Caterina market for my future cheese...

We visited both the wine and deli sections of Vila Viniteca and can give good reviews for both sides. We will definitely be coming back during our next visit to Spain.

The wine store stocks many bottles and vintages of Catalonian, Spanish, Bordeaux and Burgundy wines (and Champagne). It can be a little overwhelming entering the store as there was no signage to indicate how the bottles are sorted. However, the shop assistants are more than happy to help. The 'good stuff' is located inside the climate-controlled room (ask a shop assistant to let you in).

The deli store contained many Jamón Ibérico de Bellota produced from different regions in Spain. We were able to purchase a leg and get it sliced, deboned, and packaged by the next day - just in time...
