Restaurante La Perla Cordobesa — Restaurant in Benalmádena

Sadly we chose to eat here on the last night of our holiday, after being accosted by the staff straight after they’d seen us tell the neighbouring restaurant that we wanted to have a wander. Hungry and not looking to keep getting more of the same, we chose to sit down and order here. During his hussle, he promised us a free meal for my 2 yr old; small chicken curry with rice, which they later charged us for, and she didn’t eat the meat after I found a very sharp bone in it. For starters we had garlic prawns (and some other prawn dish). It all smelt delicious, but whilst the prawns were cooked just right, there was just no taste at all. Then came the main event. I chose to order T-bone steak, something I really enjoy once in a while. Whatever they served up was like no other T-bone steak I’ve ever experienced elsewhere. For a start there was no bone in it (surprising as the chicken curry was full of them), but the meat itself was almost impossible to chew. I couldn’t even get my fork to stab into some parts of it. I left all but a couple of mouthfuls of the steak, only to be insulted by the waiter’s “funny” remark of “come on big lad you can manage more”.

Avoid this place and walk further down the road to the place in my other photo if you really want a delicious meal without any hassle...

Bad experience.

The boss (a tall grey-haired man) was standing outside to accost all passing people to almost forcing them going inside his restaurant, as we did as well unfortunately :

We took one starter to share, a cheeseboard. It were 10 very thin slices of the cheapest cheese you can find in Málaga, it had the size of a small snack. Price : 13,60 euros. My main course was actually not bad at all, I took the grilled salmon and it was pretty tasty. Only a pitty it was almost cold the moment we got it served at the table. The bill was saying we took bread twice, while we never ordered or received it. His barbecue outside wasn't fired up at all, so he only pretended like he was grilling all the fish himself, we found out while having dinner. Clearly a trap to lure tourists inside his restaurant. The cook with the grey moustache was smoking in the open kitchen inside.

I have read many good reviews, this is clearly not one of them. It's up to you what to do with it.

If I could give them 100 stars I would. This place is absolutely amazing. Massive reason for it are the guys working there. After walking around places like this, we were tired of annoying guys trying to get us in to the restaurant. But This gentleman who is on charge of inviting people in did it in such a nice way. He was not pushy at all, he was polite and absolutely sweet guy, I absolutely adored him. We felt so welcoming straight away. One of the waiter was hilarious, he was even showing us his son. It was the whole experience. Food was amazing, sangria was one of the best in the whole marina, steak and fish was tasty, but the service was the main part of this experience. Guys working there are doing amazing job, not just serving food, but serving experience. Absolutely recommend and If I ever come back for holidays I really hope they'll be there. What a night...
