First day in Cordoba and a late train. Came in and sat at about 3.30pm, no one came to ask for order. That’s fine, it’s a little dead so maybe not a lot of people working. Server came after about 10 minutes , said kitchen closes at 4pm. I asked if I can still order since it was before 4pm? She said ok, last order. Her english seemed fine, I could understand her ok. Placed my order, she went back. A minute later a man came out, said “English?” and said no, kitchen is closed at 4pm. I looked at his watch. He said well it is in 10 minutes but we need to close. At this point I am hungry and had been waiting way since 3.30pm and didn’t want to argue. Going with this analogy, paying a visit to Banagher Tendillas is like riding an old horse that is hours away from dying. The waiters are clearly held here against their will – I have no other way explaining them not knowing what is on their own menu, or pretending you hardly exist for 20 minutes. Perhaps some sort of time dilation is at play here, but I was never warned of this. On top of everything, you will undoubtedly get a better coffee experience if you pour some boiling water over Nescafé instant powder: bland, uninspiring, and makes you lose your will to live. For the love of god, steer clear...
