Gran Bar — Restaurant in Córdoba

First impressions was that it might be a good and quick place to grab some food without looking at the reviews, and oh boy was it a mistake. The menu was meh, service is fine, staff friendly enough to take the order. Ordered some fried chicken with fries along with some lamb. Fries were fine, ordinary. Fried chicken was painful to bite on, some chunks even felt like biting on bones. What a good prediction, bited down on one of the fried chicken pieces, hard just like all the other pieces, yet being used to it being so hard i bited down even more and there actually appeared to be bones inside the round fried chicken piece. Disgusting. Alright maybe the lamb will redeem itself, the fried chicken just might not be their thing. Lamb... covered in chewy skin, taking it apart and i see blood on my fingers from it. Not very appetizing to say the least. Fine, maybe tasting it i will like it. And why did i taste paper? I thought it was a lamb? Just tasteless paper. I thought maybe this lamb piece is just not it, gave another piece a bite and oh well, it also, tastes just like paper.

Wanted a quick breakfast before catching our train to Sevilla.

We had a couple of drinks at the bar the previous evening which was nice so naturally thought it would be fine today.

How wrong we were. Took a long time for the staff to clear the previous customers plates. Nearby tables also had used plates, cups etc.

The surly waiter eventually took our simple order of coffee, orange juice, croissant & scrambled egg. Pretty much what everyone else was having so we thought it would be easy.

Our order arrived in stages rather than together which was frustrating for both of us. The eggs didn’t arrive at all even after chasing the waiter.

It was cheap though so this is the place for you if you don’t mind waiting a long time to not get what you ordered & enjoy forcing an apology from a restaurant that couldn’t care less.

Plenty of other much better...

The place is overrated. We ordered fried octopus that was priced 10 EUR in the menu. The waiter warned us the price will be 12 for some reason he explained in Spanish and we did not understand but accepted. When the bill came, it said 14 for the octopus - again for a reason he explained in Spanish. Overall the place feels like a fast food where you are being rushed with "Finished?" every few minutes regardless of the fork position on your plate and food inside. Don't recommend, this is an overrated tourist trap with good location.

Edit: Just after I submitted this review a waiter tried to take the unfinished glass of wine my wife had. This is a really ridiculous kind of service we've never seen in Spain. It is 23:20 and they consistently demonstrate it is time to go, even though they advertise they are...
