As soon as you enter it's a Wow! The atmosphere, decor, and table settings are truly remarkable. I visited the toilets facilities and passed an open kitchen with at least five chefs in stunning attire as were all members of the serving staff. From 'there on' things crash-landed.
I was led to our table which was outside on the veranda, First table on the left, half a metre from the busiest door in the establishment, I was cold and far from a tranquil setting.
Our first (shared) course was a tuna salad without the tuna. After a nudge this was replaced.
The main dish was a Caldosa and ironically on the table next to us. A middle aged couple from Madrid received a Paella served on a flat large dish, with plates, Ours in a large bowl with dishes. The content and constituency was almost identical, whereas the Caldosa should be served with more fish stock, i.e. more liquid.
We swapped our choices many years ago and have never looked back. I pointed out that we didn't ask for Paella i was informed that I was wrong. The couple on the next table compared dishes and confirmed our opinions and conclusions to be 100℅ correct.
Please, Please, Please do not avoid this restaurant based upon my experience. I'm sure if I had reserved a table in advance for several days before rather than walk-in, our seating would have been indoors and...
Read moreEl pasado jueves 17 de Julio me confirmaron la reserva de comida a las 14:30 h para el domingo 20 de Julo de 4 personas en el Restaurante ARROZANTE en el Hotel Occidental Barceló de Fuengirola, con objeto de celebrar el cumpleaños de un miembro de mi familia. Ese mismo jueves me presenté para solicitarles llevar por mi cuenta una tarta fría pequeña de 1 kg, para celebrarlo, que ya encargué en una conocida pastelería de la ciudad. Me dijeron que tenia que hablar con la Encargada, Srta. Jadi, respondiéndome ésta que no había problema siempre y cuando les firmara, como era costumbre, un consentimiento de que yo era el único responsable de las posibles consecuencias de salud que dicha tarta nos pudiera ocasionar, a lo que accedí encantado. Sorprendentemente, un dia antes de la reserva, recibo una llamada de un tal Moises, que dice ser el “maitre” y me dice de una forma un tanto prepotente que no puedo traer la tarta, a pesar de contestarle que su Encargada ya me lo había autorizado, preguntándole si era consciente del enorme problema que me ocasionaba, dado que me lo comunicaba con solo 24 horas de antelación, y con la dificultad añadida de tener que buscar de prisa y corriendo otro Restaurante con plazas disponibles para celebrarlo, y más para un domingo de tanta concurrencia a este tipo de Restaurantes especializados en arroces. Pero su empecinamiento y obstinación sin darme la más mínima explicación parecían darle igual a este “impresentable”, que además le daba lo mismo dejar a la “altura de un pimiento” la palabra de su Encargada, desacreditándola. Esa falta de respeto y consideración no solo a nosotros como clientes sino a su Encargada ya se podrán imaginar de qué tipo de “sujeto” estamos hablando. Though we had a good look on the pool and the garden of the hotel, the atmosphere...something was missing...cannot point out whát exactly...maybe a bit of a 'warm' feeling.
