Again, I didn’t research any spots — I just followed our guide’s recommendation. Alas, it’s not a place I would have picked voluntarily.
Anyway, at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, we showed up without a reservation and explained that we’d like to have a few drinks and something small to eat for about half an hour while enjoying the view of the Alhambra. By the way, we are well-dressed, well-behaved tourists who speak English fluently.
We immediately asked for a table with the best view and were told those were reserved. We were offered a second-row table that wasn’t preset, but that’s not what we wanted, so we insisted on one of the “premier” tables. We were still refused—until we noticed that one of those tables wasn’t preset either, at which point we finally got it.
We’re used to slower service than in the US, so we ordered drinks right away and got them quickly. The gazpacho was delicious, as was the tomato salad with tuna. We did expect a bit more in terms of local dishes, but at that moment the selection was different. As we were informed, the restaurant changes its menu quite often, so don’t expect to see the exact same dishes you find in Google reviews.
The point of my review is this: I don’t understand why servers/managers give attitude to paying customers. Isn’t that their source of income? Especially when customers from the US tend to tip differently. Rude service will only drive away potential customers, even if the restaurant has the best view of...
Read moreThis was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. I’ve traveled to 7 continents, eaten at hundreds of restaurants internationally and this is truly the worst service I’ve ever had in any city anywhere I’ve gone. When I got seated I waited 20 minutes for someone to take my drink order (the restaurant was not even half full and there aren’t that many tables). Once I finally got my drink and olives, I waited another ~30-40 minutes to order, having finished my wine and app for several minutes. I had to get up and ask a waiter if I could order dinner, and finally ordered my main course after being there an hour. I ordered a steak with vegetables, and when my food came the steak was served with a hot stone to cook it. However, they didn’t give me a steak knife to cut it into pieces, nor did anyone explain how I was supposed to cook and eat it. Finally, after attempting to cut my steak into pieces with a butter knife for several minutes, while the stone had already gone cold, I was able to flag someone down to give me a steak knife and another hot stone to cook it. I was there over two hours and left hungry. I wanted to leave badly enough I didn’t ask for a third stone to cook the remainder...
Read moreI’m really sad I can’t give this place zero stars. We are a family of six adults plus a baby who just wanted to enjoy the view and a couple of drinks/bits.
Already as we entered, the personnel were rude, and wanted us to take a table in the back corner, even though there were plenty of tables in the front with better view. The rude manager insisted there could only be 4 people max at every table, and therefore didn’t want to give us the tables. We split up and took 2 smaller tables, but noticed that in the front corner was a free table and next to it there were only 2 people seated. We asked that party if we could take 2 chairs, and they had no problems with that. There were plenty of room for six chairs in the corner, and we moved over there, and the manager actually started SCREAMING at us to leave!!! Seriously!?? I’ve never been treated this way before, and wanted to call him a racist (5 of 6 are Asians), since he pretended not to speak English to us until he threw us out of ”his” restaurant. Oh right, there was another party of white visitors occupying a table for 8 people in the front, with only 5 people, and that apparently was perfectly...
