La Cueva de 1900 / Ayuntamiento — Restaurant in Granada

My understanding is that this is a chain, at least it looked like there were several of them. That said, the food was fairly good, which isn’t always the case when there is more than one restaurant involved.

We were taken here on a food tour, and this was our first stop. The atmosphere is excellent. The location is wonderful, right in the middle of everything. We had some tapas. And they brought out a couple of different types of meat and some bread and a really interesting fried eggplant with a molasses-type topping. The eggplant was so thin and the breading was excellent; one of the meats was good and one was very good.

Even though we went as part of a Food Tour,, I could see the prices on the menu, and they really seemed to be reasonable. And again, the atmosphere was sweet, several intimate tables. We found this place walking around Granada looking for dinner the day we arrived. The atmosphere look right and it was the busiest place in the plaza. We read the menu and immediately de used to ask for a table. Our waiter Santiago was courteous and efficient. He suggested the “Solomollo de Puerco Ibérico” (Spanish Pork Tenderloin). It came in a vertical brochette 1 1/2’ tall with veggies, onions, French fries and two sauces (red pepper and aioli with herbs). It was delicious. My daughter pork cheek with mashed potatoes. Had a great experience tonight at La Cueva De 1900 in Granada! I give them 5 stars and highly recommend them, as they are so far the most attentive, friendly and caring service, we have had, in a couple of spanish restaurants that we visited! Very charming place right in the middle of the center, with a romantic vibe! Most importantly information about allergies were available on the menu and our waiter tonight, Manuel, took a very responsible care of me (having fish allergy) with clear explanation and communication.
