Restaurante Picual — Restaurant in Granada

We booked this restaurant for our last night dinner in Grenada based on all the good reviews we read. Maybe we were unfortunate but everything gone wrong the night we went there. Because of the cold during that night we sat inside, we didn’t realised when booking they only had a bar inside and no dinner tables, no big issue we sat at the bar. When we arrived restaurant staff (or owner?) were still fixing things on the wall and having their dinner, the door was broken and doing a strange constant noise, we didn’t feel like we arrived at the right time. The 2 waitresses on that night were really nice and willing to help but we felt rushed to order. Since some of the seafood tapas dishes were not available on the menu we were recommended to take a fish dish outside the menu. We accepted (our mistake not to ask the price). The fish was good served with a small plate of potatoes. When we saw the bill we were quite surprised the fish was at 60 euro. In the end a dinner for 2 at 100 euros with only croquetas, fish, 1 dessert and 4 glasses of wine. We felt ripped off. Excellent spot for lunch and dinner. I went here based on a recommendation from a tour guide at lunch and was so pleased with food quality and value that I went again for dinner. We were not disappointed either time. The fish and meat dishes were all great.

A few tips and notes: A must have is the tomato tartar with burrata (amazing presentation)! For free tapas with each drink, go to the bar. This is a known for locals, but maybe not tourists. Not a lot of space or tables, so come earlier. The staff don't speak English well, but we were able to communicate effectively enough (there are english menus). No desserts. We were on holiday in Granada from the Netherlands and happened to stumble upon this place for a cup of coffee. However, the relaxed atmosphere and great vibe quickly led to wine and tapas. We immediately made a reservation to come back for dinner the next day, and it was absolutely fantastic. Raul, who served our table, was extremely enthusiastic, friendly, and genuine. On his recommendation, we ordered the octopus — and it was exceptionally good!
