XIN YUAN — Restaurant in Granadilla de Abona

We were given a table straight away, but had to find a menu ourselves on another table. My wife noted that she didn't feel welcomed at all when we went in, ordered etc.

We had egg fried rice, beef noodles, and sweet and sour chicken, large bottle of water, and a coffee - total price ~€37

We were told that was a lot of food between two of us, which was unusual, but ordered it anyway.

I thought the beef noodles were ok, wife thought they were a bit too spicy for her. I thought the chicken was ok, but my wife, who has an amazing palate for smells, tastes and textures, said she didn't know what it was, but couldn't be sure it was chicken (!!)

The meals were a good size, the rice especially was huge, we finished the sweet and sour, I ate the beef from the top of the noodles, but we probably didn't eat half of the rice despite refilling my plate several times.

We weren't offered a dessert menu or asked if we wanted another drink, so we just paid up and left.

After a terse reply from the owner, I give honest feedback from our own perspective, and often suggest things we feel would improve the experience, just as I did for Manfreds Soul Cafe and their daiquiris.

We'd been sat for a few minutes without a menu, so I got up and grabbed one from the empty table to the left of the entrance.

Maybe my wife was having a bad day, I thought the sweet and sour was ok, but we're used to having a bit more sauce we can mix in with the rice.

I applaud you for hating waste, we don't usually send anything back - perhaps the amount of rice can be reduced, because the serving we had probably would have been more appropriate for a table of four people.

As for the owner suggesting I see a doctor, perhaps he should see an optician because I'm in my 50's :-p

Value-wise, you're very good, you've got a great reputation which is why we came to you in the first place, I'm just sorry to say I won't be adding you to my list of regular places to eat.

This is my very first review about food on the internet. To some degree I am a choosy person. When I dine outside, I like the personality of the food, I do not like food same as every other restaurant. We come to this restaurant purely by accident due to the initial chosen restaurant was closed on Monday and we googled nearby restaurants and selected this one based on the review on internet. We were very happy with the decision, we found the material this restaurant used definitely was as good as we can expect, the food was delicious, and I can feel the uniqueness of taste in every dishes even though they are common in names on the menu. After few negative experiences with high rate places, we've been a bit cautious about Xin Yuan having so many stars. Well, their rate is very well deserved! We've come just few minutes before they supposed to close for a break, but they accepted us anyway. Very attentive service, and the youngest gentleman served us drinks 😊 As for the food - beyond any expectations! Menu has variaty for any taste. I have ordered curry, and this is one of the best curries I've ever tried! Portions are very generous, prices are reasonable. With no doubt we'll be back to try...
