This one is extremely tough because obviously the restaurant gets raving reviews, so maybe it was an off night or the restaurant is being run larger than it normally would - as in not having an immense amount of tables extend down both sides of Old Town Ibiza.
The ambiance is superb but that is not created by the restaurant. They have a great location but so does every other spot on the street. Now dinner was awful. We sat down around 10:30pm did not get acknowledged until at least 10:45pm where we put in all drink, app and food order given the obvious slowness and did not get entrees until around 12:55pm - 5 minutes before closing. They were literally putting tables and chairs away as we were eating.
The food was average. Nothing special. Lamb that was said to be medium was cold and rare. Kitchen appeared to be either under staffed or having a bad day as numerous times throughout the meal chefs kept coming out looking like they had seen better days. Additionally, as many have pointed out in the past maybe it’s a tourist trap or maybe it’s just what they do but the bread is a strait money grab. I am not saying it would not have been ordered but 2.5 EUR per person for a couple slivers of bread and aioli which you did not ask for or were not told about is wrong. It comes across as deceitful and honestly bad business practice. I’ve worked in and seen kitchen across LA, Chicago, and New York. This would never fly, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE PAYING 75-100 EUR per person.
What was most frustrating had to be a friends table or chefs table sat right out front 30 minutes after we sat and received their entrees before we even received our appetizers/tapas.
The only thing to come fast was the check - no surprise. As I said I’ll chalk it up as an off night. Owner seemed very charismatic although he never made contact with us once. Based off our experience, everything about this place is bait and switch. Sell you on the glitz of the street and not their service or food. I’d personally never come back but I am hopeful this gets read with an honest set of eyes to see nothing about this was neither enjoyable for us nor should be acceptable for them. They clearly can and have done better.
EDIT: I appreciate the honest response by Management although to clarify I ate their July 5th. This was not last week of June, when the staffing “issue” seemed to have been resolved. Nevertheless, the restaurant owning up to the issue, somewhat, is refreshing but I’m still out 250 Euros. In this instance in my opinion the only way to resolve the experience is with a refund, but everyone is entitled to their...
Read moreWe went out as a group to this restaurant in Ibiza Old Town, and it was meant to be the highlight of our holiday. Unfortunately, it turned into the worst dining experience we had.
While drinks and starters arrived in a reasonable time, the service quickly went downhill. Our starter plates were left on the table for over an hour. When the server finally noticed, instead of apologising or giving us an update on our mains, she just spoke into her walkie-talkie, completely ignoring us. The waiters kept telling us “3 more minutes” but after several rounds of these empty promises, the food eventually arrived—cold and overcooked.
The seafood pasta was a disaster, with mussels that hadn’t even opened, and the lamb was dry and practically inedible. Half of our meals were completely ruined. We did receive a discount, which we appreciated, but it didn’t change the fact that the experience was poor and really put a dampener on our holiday.
It really felt like the staff had given up—perhaps because it’s the end of the season, but that’s no excuse for such terrible service and food quality. Do yourself a favour and...
Read moreMe and my friend were looking for resteraunts for our last day to visit and found this and thought to give it a try. As we arrived we were lured in by one of the hosts. We received stale bread and was charged for one small bread basket, 4 euros per person. We also asked for one water and they gave 2 and charged us 6 euros per person of which we did not ask for. There were a lot of flies around the food and the restaraunt which was really off putting. We then requested calamari and prawns and they told us they did not have it in stock, we were shocked as it was a Friday and the restaraunt was by the port. The courses are very small and this restaraunt is beyond a tourist trap, it’s offensive, I would not even give it one star if I could. The sea bass was frozen and I still left feeling hungry. It was not the fine dining experience I would have expected. We went to another restaraunt MAINE and it was way better to La dispensa. I would not recommend this to anyone, nor my family. The cheek to charge so much, give small portions which was not a fine dining experience, the food availability, frozen and stale food...
