Popa Ibiza — Restaurant in Ibiza

Our friends, who visit this place regularly whenever they’re in Ibiza, recommended it and we joined them for the meal. Unfortunately, this time experience didn’t meet expectations.

We ordered a variety of tapas, but several dishes were disappointing. The aioli and bread arrived 1.5 hours after ordering, despite us asking multiple times. The calamari was undercooked, the shrimp lacked any seasoning—there wasn’t even a hint of salt—and the aubergine tapas didn’t seem properly cooked either.

Had a table booking for 10.30pm for 4 people and when we rocked up at 10.25pm the guy front of house said they were very busy so a table had over run and could we hold ok for 10minutes which wasn’t a problem at all. He gave us 4 free glasses of Prosecco for being understanding. When we sat down the atmosphere in and around there is amazing anyway and the food came out in a decent time and it was delicious, we got the tapas and chose calamari, garlic shrimp, bruschetta, croquettes and patatas bravas. So so. The menu is eclectic, combining Spanish, Italian and other cuisines. We really liked the "gambas al ajillo" (Spanish-style garlic shrimp). The "bruschetta caprese" tasted fine but could have benefitted from more flavorful tomatoes and more olive oil. Our main disappointment was the "entraña" (an Argentinian cut of beef steak), which was overdone and lacked the juicy flavor it usually has.
